Colt Canada rifles to the public?

The Canadian Army buys C7s at $3000 a piece so don't expect too much of the price drop.

They are listed as ~$1,800 in the CGCS government cataloging system WITH the Elcan C79s. I don't know where you're getting this?

Quebec City police use semi only HK 416's.
Source: I handled one at the range. Regular police were doing their quals with their patrol carbines.

You mean the Sûreté du Québec's Groupe Tactique d'Intervention, right?

Oh man, if they well them WITH the Elcan for $1,800, I'd on that like a fat kid in a candy store, but the sad reality that most folks have been hinting at around here is a "Premium Version" that will likely cost a lot more. Besides, $1,800 is probably the "bulk" price that the ### negotiated with Colt Canada. Anyway, despite what everyone says, I'm going to live the pipe dream as some here have said, and hope you're right, at least until Colt Canada finalizes the MSRP.

I think new Elcan C79s go for around ~$800?

The ~$1,800 price I keep seeing in the system is for the C7A2s. Colt Canada has a whole new line of upgrades, including monolithic upper receivers, for their rifles. I'm guessing the price will reflect that.

$1,300 I seriously doubt, hopefully less then double that. I mean seriously if the Canadian government bought them for $1,800 each and that's in bulk, not to mention the ever rising cost of alloys along with any new upgrades made and finally the fact that these are actual Colt Canada C7's (san's select fire) that cannot be bought anywhere else we'll be lucky if they come in anywhere close to $2,000. It will be a difficult pill to swallow for some when a decent DD rifle is only $1,500 to $1,700, however for others it's a dream come true at any price.
I pray I'm wrong and they are well under $2,000, but like any new product there is always a higher price asked when new to market and after time the price dwindles down as sales do too.

Anyone else like the look of the L119a2 shown on the colt canada site? That's an iur variant I could get behind.

The interesting hing about the C7/C8 is how many countries only issue them to SF outfits, while giving their regular forces weapons built at home. While I realize that it has a lot to do with SF compatibility, those nations didn't choose Colt USA - and I would imagine they very well could have, and perhaps paid less for them.

Just because a rifle has seen service does not make it better. The Colt Canada rifles are great, no argument there, but can you really say that the quality or reliability is is better than another reputable manufacturer? What about BCM or Noveske?
