Called march 14th - with alberta CFO, call back in a week if status hasn't changed.

Called march 21st- still with alberta CFO, very busy with applications. Grumpy guy...

Called April 1st, still with CFO, in final stages.

Called April 15th still with CFO, checked the file and no issues just a backlog of applications. If nothing in a couple weeks call back.

Called end of may, still with CFO, have patience.

Called June 12th, lady was sending an email to CFO to see what the hold up was, license issued June 13th.

Received today (June 23rd)

Just shy of five months.

April 26 mailed in app
(Received may 1st,)
May 30th, initial processing, showed up online finally
June 2nd called in, had reference call in
June 11th licence issued
June 23rd licence received

Quick Question:

Do I have to apply PAL first, then RPAL? Or I can finish PAL and RPAL courses, then apply RPAL directly? Thanks for your inputs.

Definitely apply for the RPAL! If you do it separately, not only do you have the wait & hassle each time the application works its way through the system, but you also have to pay the application fee twice.

Hi everyone, new here but finally got my licenses and thought I should share my timeline.

April 28th, application received
June 4th, credit card Billed
June 9th, Reference was called and did his interview
June 16th, called to check if they had everything they needed, said all was approved and it would be mailed out later in the week
June 17th, Received License in mail

To be honest I never checked to see when it showed up online as I thought it would not be there and the whole process would take a lot longer. I was surprised that they did not know that they had already sent me the card, also surprised that they only spoke to one of my references, I was under the impression that they needed to speak to both and myself.

I think our instructors said the copies were destroyed due to privacy compliance, however they keep on record if you "passed" or not, which is what they said was important....
I did my course from Silvercore and they told me that they will always have one copy of my results on file just incase i loose it or need it again for 5 years

May 16th, Application Received.
June 13th, Showed Online on RCMP + Credit Limit was reduced by 80 CAD so I guessed they charged it (transaction showed June 16th though)
June 13th, First reference phoned in & did the interview.
June 16th, I phoned asking if I needed to do my interview, the gentleman (was friendly) said it is not always necessary with everyone !

He said they were waiting for my picture to be scanned (a week or so), then application would go back to CFO in BC to do the background check before approval (a month or so).

Has anyone experienced such a thing before?

I am a PR, have lived in Canada for 1yr and 9 months only. Would that be the reason?

Thanks

I didnt need an interview, the lady said new policy, took a week exactly for the picture to be scanned, mine was issued right after it was scanned

May 20 - Arrived in Miramichi
June 16 - Showed up online using GCKey
June 17 - Called and made sure it was good. Fixed issue over the phone for me, I had forgotten to but place of birth
June 20 - Reference called in
June 25 - Called in to CFC, they completed the last step on the phone and issued it.

No mention of it going to the CFO even though it will be an RPAL, but they did say it took 3 days or so from the date it showed online for the photo to be scanned and associated with the application.

Both of the folks I spoke with were great to deal with as well.

Hrm...I'm over 45 days and it's still "In Progress". I called on day 46 and they told me it was at the BC CFO pending approval. I'll call again tomorrow to see if there's anything else I can do.

Mailed my PAL application on May 5th. (BTW I already have a POL.) Called RCMP on June 6th and was told not in he system yet.
Called again on June 12 th application had been received and photo had to be scanned. I asked if I could speed things up by having my references call in and was told they don't need to talk to them only when applying for an RPAL. Called again June 19 th photo had been scanned and application completed. I asked if I could have my PAL number so I could go buy a rifle.
He told me my number would be the same as my POL but the last number after the decimal point would be one higher.
So now I wait hopefully get it next week!

PAL arrived in mail today! WOOHOO! 52 DAYS from the day I mailed it till I received it.

Thanks again whiteoutjeeper. As you said earlier my be it is different with BC. Maybe BC requires the final decision to be made provincially rather than at Miramichi? with sshiftyy comment it seems likely. Anyways, thanks again and congrats for your Licence :)
