I gotta say I am glad to see we don't have a monopoly on clueless uninformed assclowns down here in the USA on various gun forums - CGN has plenty and a whole lot of them showed up on this thread

The number 1 problem with the Internet is it gives the village idiot a voice - and this thread is living proof

Made in Canada for Canadians, by Canadians.

We don't see that very often these days.

...... and price gouged by Canadians ..........

If I Run Guns can bring in a genuine Colt from the US, why are we paying more than double for our "Made In Canada" version?

As always, Canadians pay more because they're willing to, it's as simple as that.

Regardless of how well respected an industry expert you may be, this post is rude and uncalled for. Name calling is unproductive.

Heck I'd love to get some of these too.

Colt Canada makes great guns (although they seem incapable of measuring a barrel correctly...)
I'm not sure how they come up with 15.7 unless you measure where the flash hider begins and ignore the barrel portion that is threaded under that...

At the price your also getting a name and a Made in Canada support network.

If they come available down South I'll get a few. The nice thing about the bare bones versions is YOU, THE OWNER, can add what you want.

Don't you have a 16" barrel minimum state side

Meh, do you really think an industry expert is going to come out an say Colt Canada is charging too much for what is essentially a basic AR?

Larry, with all due respect, what features does the Colt Canada AR bring to the table that justifies more than double the cost to the US Colt?
Far as I can glean the biggest is the hammer forged barrel, other than that nothing major, and I know a hammer forged barrel doesn't cost $1300 more than a cut barrel.

Delta Super Space Commandos doesn't teach basic netiquette I guess?

When I was a TACTV subscriber you had an episode with Colt Canada , my only question is how many rifles did they give you ? And that's an honest question too no pun intended I would like to know ?

I don't see why the price is what it is? It's not being traded in Euro dollar and does not have the same difficulties that European companies do when exporting here or the US so I just don't see the price hike by $500 conservatively speaking.

I am very tempted to squeeze the trigger on this rifle but I feel we are be taken here for a ride.

I have already stated why I think you should buy a Colt Canada rifle - can't make it any clearer than I already have

Simply put they build very good weapons and their track record shows that - guys throwing in their 2 cents from an uniformed opinion validate the worst aspects of the Internet ; anyone can be a keyboard commando and be an SME behind a computer screen

I bite my tongue on a regular basis but once in awhile threads like this one come up that try my patience

Do what you want but try to be informed when you do it - and many of you are not

I'm amazed at how many folks here have more knowledge on the subject of AR manufacturing quality than Larry Vickers - who knew? If you don't want one, feel free not to buy one. If you think they're too expensive, that's cool too. It might be interesting to remember though, that a lot less than 10 years ago, people here were fighting to pay $3K+ for a Colt (USA) 6920. Less b*thing, more shooting.

This.

It's the Canadian way brother, simple as that. Never good 'nough, me-want-more-for-less-then-in-the-US.

Heck if I didn't know any better I would have thought that this thread was about a new ATRS non-restricted sporting rifle in .308 !

The fact that they are used by certain groups and have a good reputation does not justify more than double the cost over the Colt which is just as widely regarded. People used to justify the Colt's $3000 price tag a while back because it was issued gear, now it's $1000, we're seeing the same justification being used with the Canadian Colt. Apart from reputation I ask again what features justify double the cost over the Colt?

Canadian AR market size / demand & offer for THEIR specific rifle / their reputation...

LOL!!! hahahah, you nailed it buddy!

the $1000 colt was a walmart special and they ordered 60,000 units to get that price....i am sure if one of you wants to step up and order 60,000 rifles colt canada would give you a deal.

The $1000 COLT was NOT a Walmart Special. You can buy Colts for $1000 other places besides Walmart. IRUNGUNS for example.

I pay attention to this thread because I am waiting for someone to show why it's $2200 for a basic cheap rifle. What special features did I miss? Some secret Manufacturing tech no one else has? Why aren't other manufacturer's lowering their quality to meet Milspec?
