Well, here it is...

Got my Chiappa Alaskan Takedown .44 Magnum a few weeks ago, and through lots of fondling, and a bit of range time... I have come to some conclusions...

I LOVE THIS GUN!

It is a fun, short, packable little rifle, build quality seems very good from my inspection to this point, reliability has been as you would expect with a lever action, and the thing is just plain old ###y! .44 Magnum is a stout cartridge, suitable to put down most game at reasonable distances, I think most here would agree on.

(Factory pic, having problems with the camera at the moment)

Now... either I have the softest skin in the universe, or this thing kicks pretty hard due to the hockey puck style recoil pad... I am hoping it is latter, as I have not had this good of a bruise from 70 rounds in one sitting as I have from any other gun in years... Perhaps a new recoil pad is in order for the near future... haha.

Now, to the shooting video...

I've got a brand new one I'm thinking of selling... I've also got a chiappa mares leg with a full stock and I don't think I need two of pretty much the same gun. Lol

Very interesting! A Wanstall's exclusive for sure as Chiappa doesn't show this model on their website. In fact, yours isn't currently listed on Wanstall's website either.
Dare I ask the $$$? :)

There is a thread on it in wanstalls forum, it was a custom run that sold out fast, I think only around two dozen were made. Price after tax came to about $1400, depending on cost of shipping.

Just a heads up, those mild carbon steel bench tops were likely very nice at one point, but putting down stainless guns on mild steel is going to have a unwanted effect on the nice stainless guns, the Stainless will get impregnated with Carbon and cause it to rust next time conditions are right.

I worked in a stainless fab shop for a few years in the early days and we always kept the two separate.

To me, the lever lewp could be a wee bit tighter.
Ohh. .. 'looky me 'ol 'puter bud, .. for all this time ... I've envisioned y'll as that slightly scruffy look'n, wide smiling, BC bushwhacker type guy, wit he's thick wool handknitted mittens dangling off a cord run down through he's sleeves. .... :p ... ;)

Now I gotta 'pence ye wit wee small hands? ..:runaway:

Well folks ... we put quite a few through that Chiappa Alaskan .44 today.
Gotta say, that is one slick piece of kit. Very fast and smooth action. Excellent trigger. Sights .. they are dead on right out of the box.
We engaged from 10 yards on out to 150'ish ... every single shot went into wherever it was aimed at. Accurate.

Very fun gun.
Ripped up me pine log backstop into splinters and sawdust, so it did.
Can't wait to get some stout hard cast Keith 260gr swc/2400 loads into 'er.
And, it fed and cycled .44 special loaded to antique revolver specs., to point of aim at 90 yards, as well.

This 'lil feller is a keeper.
