Any Plans for a .308 AR? MAJOR UPDATE MAY 8 2014

Please DO NOT take holidays, weekends, days off, sick days, etc., until this project is completed and rolling off the assembly line. We all thank you in advance.:)

Sick days are a little excessive... no one wants to take down the whole office productivity by sharing the flu.... then it could take even longer!

Do you have any plans on making a left-handed version? You could corner the Canadian market almost intirely.

Or go broke trying to service the less than 4% of the shooting population.
Given that the charge handle is NON reciprocating but located on the left side, there should be no issues there and as we are making the case deflector bolt on, it would be very simple to make a deflector specifically for LH shooters.
I realize this does not solve the issue of ejection to the right, but as close as we can get short of making a complete dedicated LH upper.
IF there was enough demand we may consider a LH version, but given the very low numbers of LH shooters, I would suggest not getting your hopes up.

Thank goodness... I'm tired of 'fully ambidextrous' being the awesome best feature on so many new rifles. I'm right handed. Someone make a rifle with incredible features that aren't held back by the engineering limitations of left-handedness.

What will the ergonomics of the safety and magazine release be from the left-side?

I just hope the price isn't ambi as well. IE having to reach for s wallets out of my right and left pockets.

Which barrels are planned? Brand and SS?

Well I am left handed and tired of ambidextrous features being an afterthought. I'm left handed. Someone make a rifle with incredible features that aren't held back by the engineering limitations of right handed people telling me to adapt.

All kidding aside, I do get frustrated by a lack of well designed left handed options. If this rifle does have a hefty price tag and you want a guaranteed sale from me make a lefty upper. In reality there is no money in it. Keep the brass out of my face and call it a day.

This rifle has me very excited.

I'm sure it'll have an ambi bolt release (just like the Gen-4 lower) and likely have the option to use the Norgon Ambi mag release (or other ambi mag release) as well, as well as the safety selectors widely available on the market.

I spent a little more to get the full ambi features on my AT15 when I built it up, and as long as you have a good brass deflector (as ATRS is saying they plan on having) shooting left handed should be a breeze!

Can you make an Initial Run of Custom Serial Numbers like you did when you first released your ATRS15. Maybe the first 20 or 50 get to pick their Serial Number.

ATRS Modern Hunter - 015 - 12345678 or ABCDEFGH

The potential exists to do this however it will increase costs some as then we have to alter programs for each lower. Unfortunately time is money.

Skip it. Keep costs as low as possible and get these babies to retail as quick as you can.

Just discovered this thread, damn, can’t see the teaser picture from the work computer. Will have to wait till I get home to drool over it. Looking forward to seeing the production version!

"teaser picture" ?

I didn't know there was one. I thought the only pics on this thread were of an AR-10 (pg 17) and a KAC SR-25 (pg 40), posted by people hoping they look similar to ATR's rifle...

Is Post #338 not a teaser pic? Maybe I was wrong. Either way, it's just a red X for me until I get home to check it out.

#338 ? - nope, just a regular post with text...

here it is:

All fair!

Will we have barrel options? Do you have weight estimate on this?

What we are looking at doing is offering about 3 different models.
Stage 1 Base model with something similar to A2 butt stock and round JP style for end. The options for barrels will be 18.5" light contour or 20" varmint contour.
Stage 2 Enhanced model with PRS style butt stock and round JP style for end. The options for barrels will be 18.5" light contour or 20" varmint contour.
Stage 3 Elite model PRS butt stock, carbon fiber PRI style for end and Proof research CFW barrel in 20"

Too early for weight, but we hope to be in the 7 to 8 lb area for the base model.

We still have a TON of work ahead of us to go from prototype to production.
