For what its worth ranger ll also has a wussy finish, and that one is made in Texas!
I agree that spartan over sam anytime, especially for the small price difference.
Down the road, 20k rounds later, if finish wore off too much to your liking send it to a gunsmith to retighten tolerances and have a nice black hard chrome finish done at the same time![]()
I have a springfield RO in 9mm and love it !!
Fit finish is better than kimbers I felt in random stores.
mine is over 20k now and doesnt need anything re-tightened, when I had the trigger freshed up by my smith at 15k he said fit was still as good as ever. Finish is 100% gone in places, but like I said, it adds character. Sooner or later I'll have it cerekoted out of boredom though I bet.
$821 is a good price, but check the EE for a used one if that is too high for you, that's where I picked up mine.
edit: I picked up my SAM from my gunsmith today, all I can say is run very very far away if you want to have anything done to it by a smith, I'll do a big post about it this week.
I've been looking at that RO recently. How's the finish holding up? Are you using any other mags other than what it came with? I wish they'd checker the frontstrap but then the price goes up.
I have a RIA 1911 9mm coming my way from the ee ! I was looking hard for a quality 1911 9mm and almost bought the springfield RO when I came across this and read all the reviews I jumped on it ! You don't always have to spend a small fortune to get an amazing gun ! Best of luck op
Shooting I found SAM good, Quality - iffy. I had one for over a year. I had to rebuild it already.
Springs and things ?
Interesting about having to rebuild the Sam after a year. I had a big debate about either buying a better 1911 and spending more money or going the cheaper route and having to possibly switch some parts out. I have 2 Norinco's (NP22 and NZ85b) that both surprised me on the actual quality of the gun, the NZ85b actually shoots almost as good as my Shadow. Bought both used for not a whole bunch of money and went in with not much for expectations. I have already ordered some extra Wilson combat mags and a couple other parts for the SAM so time will tell. In the end I figured I would be more likely to tinker with a cheaper 1911 and would end up with more of a gun built to my specs, and an opportunity to learn a few tricks as well.
