Thanks Douglas. I had been wondering about a 1 - 10" twist and that rationale answers my questions:).
 
Maybe we should be sticky'd.........this could go on for months yet or even years.........Don't know the process or criteria to be sticky'd...........anybody able to enlighten me? Already have more posts that most stickys on this forum............

I would never have thought that a thread like this could be therapeutic, but if it's working for you Kevan, then that alone is reason enough for starting it and keeping it going..........good luck with your health issues Kevan and I, for one, will be posting here pretty much daily. Excepting the rimmed version, which other of the family might interest you?

Ohhhh Emmm Geeee....someone actaully had the unmitigated GALL to criticize a Browning. I am SHOCKED! Shocked and Apalled!

But seriously, I openly confess to being slightly biased towards Browning firearms. Much like Douglas dislikes .270's, I like Brownings. It is just opinion and nothing more and no, I will not get into a Ford - Chevy - Dodge debate about it.

However, if anyone, and I do mean anyone....has knowledge or information in regards to why I cannot use a Browning as a donor towards a 234 project please, please, please, feel free to fill me in.

I seriously wish to own a .234 at some point in my life, should I live long enough, and if a Browning won't fill the bill then I will gladly look at a different rifle brand...except a Remlington....lol

Thanks for the kind thoughts Douglas, as for my interest I think it would be on a cartridge based on the 22-250 case.... can't remember what you guys call it ?
That should hold enough powder to drive a .234 bullet with decent speed and give good barrel life ?
Should be a great coyote / deer round... I think.

i'm kind of partial to brownings myself , I just don't know them well enough to tinker with one . ( I really like the browning maral ) .

when I have a better handle on my work situation i'll more than likely go with a savage action , c-fbmi was talking about making barrels for marlins bolt action , and they share the same shank thread as the savage .

They share the same thread diameter and pitch, but are slightly different length.

C-fbmi's endeavour is the testimony that life and energy start from retirement. I like to see those strong opinions from an experienced hunter. Such like, c-fbmi's "I hate 270 for no reason." Eagleye's "I hate muzzle break with a passion."

That one is the Lynx Kevan, named at H4831s suggestion........If Marshal can get 28-2850 from a BR case with a 105 gnr then the Lynx will surely get 3000 with a 90 gnr and should be a fantastic coyote to mule deer cartridge. I'll be building a Lynx in this first round of barrels, after I'm through wringing it out you'd be welcome to play with it for as long as you want. The Hyrax is promised to the boys down east for a few months and the Douglas will be my pet, initially.........Then I'll have to go make some more barrels and build the last two in the family. Next time I'm going to build a 1/2 doz barrels so some will be available.........RoA has ordered one right off the hop and there has been other interest as well.

after quickly reading ,
what I got from the links was savage barrel on marlin action = equals possible headspace issue due to the deeper bolt on the marlin

a marlin barrel should be ok on a savage action ..... i'll go back and read it again when my head doesn't hurt
