Scorpion Optics....Any Good?

I had a chance to play with a Scorpion Copperhead, $219.00 for a 4-16 with no questions ask over the counter straight exchange warranty. Hard to beat. Running on a 7m rem mag. Zeroed in perfect with 2 shots dead smack bull eyes at 100 yards. Will it stand up to the test of time? Only time will tell. But if it doesn't, it will be exchanged quick for a new one. People are quick to dismiss china not realizing 99 percent of everything in their day to day is from China.

Being somebody who has actually physically used one; It gets the job done. Nothing to complain about at this point (will update as soon as a problem occurs). I would say far from a POS. Show me something else you can put in my hand for $220.00 in 4-16 with the same warranty?

I also have several of these scopes. Definitely not junk. Good quality at a reasonable price. If you buy a high end Scorpion they compare with any good scope and are better than most. The lower end ones a economy scopes but work well with a warranty bested by no one.

LMFFAO ! a HIGH end Scorpion Scope ! :( thats just a .50 cent scope with a $400.00 price tag ! H:S: RJ

I think you hit it on the head there.... will it stand the test of time?.... well, what will you be doing when it doesn't?.... maybe lining up a shot on the deer of a lifetime?.... if I was just a range shooter I may consider cheaping out on an optic... but never for a hunting application.....

I bought one to put on my BL 22 at the time. I picked the rimfire 4x as I compared it to the
rimfire 3x-9x and with this scope on 4x, it wasn't near as clear as the 4x.
Sort of left me bewildered, if I may.
Next gun show that came up, the Scorpion supplier had a table and I did the test again.
Compared his rimfire 4x with the 3-9 and the 3-9 this time was more clear than the 4x.
Kind of left me without werds.
The young feller whom bawt my BL 22 said he took it out almost everyday after getting home
from work to unwind. Lived on some acreage. He made mention about the thick cross hairs
on the reticle as well.
Would I buy another new one? Probably not.
If one came on a rifle I decided to buy, I'd give'r a go.
My s'perience for what it's werth.

yes, yes they are. one Chinese made scope is awesome, but others are not, apparently. And no, we can't all afford US or European made optics. Its a no brainer if we all could. Of course I would get one of those $1500 scopes. Of course its way better. As it stands, I cannot, so I will get what I can, and keep shooting, instead of just sitting here wishing I had a 4-12x40 AO scope with fine crosshairs so I could shoot my .22 at the range.

my 4-12 Scorpion is more clear than my previous non scorpion 3-9. And the reticle crosshairs are WAY finer.

When it comes to chinese built optics, some are good and some are bad. A lot of brands are built in China and have avoided the stigma of being "chinese" by simply paying attention to quality. The Chinese can build good scopes but if the vendor that is private labeling (in this case scorpion) does not take the time to carefully vet and test the optics before adding them to thier line, they will be bad.

Millet is a brand built in China that was carefully tested and the quality was there. As a result Millet scopes generally have a good reputation.

I cancelled my WildTV after seeing scorpion optics, along with other crappy items, being flogged as quality gear. I know they are just earning a living, and "buyer beware" and all, but I just can't help but think those guys are total losers for putting their names behind a scope like scorpion. I skip huntfest just because the same clowns flog it as well.

What model did you buy? What happened to it?

I don't buy garbage, I observe others who think they're getting ahead of the masses by buying this trash under the verbal BS that it is quality gear. I've seen two in person that wouldn't track right from the box and have heard countless other stories of complete failure. Apply a little common sense and the answer is blindingly obvious when it comes to this crap and others like it.

Here's a hot tip. You can't get a quality optic for less than $300. If you're looking for a decent rimfire optic, nothing under $150 is worth the effort.

I wonder how many shooters who buy inexpensive scopes step outside the retail shop and dial them up and down and observe how well they obtain an acceptable degree of clarity - at their price point. That is the minimum test. Checking the dials for wind-age and elevation will only provide a feel for how the dials turn, and whether or not they make clicks that can be heard and felt when turned. I compare these scopes against more expensive scopes and one readily sees the difference as the price goes up. I turned my back on the inexpensive stuff a long time ago and stay with better products for reliability.

To carry this even a step further, if the opportunity presents itself to compare scopes from across the price spectrum one should do this, at least once. The difference between a $2000 scope and a $1000 scope is slight, perhaps not even visible to a user unaware of what he/she should be looking for. Step down to a $500-range optic, and the difference is much more obvious, though still relatively small. But once you drop into the nether regions of optical quality, the bottom-of-the-barrel lines in terms of price and quality, ANYBODY can see the difference, and usually you don't even need to step outside to do so. Junk is junk, and if you don't know it when you see it, you will certainly know it when you finally see something better.

I've cleaned up a lot of old stuff that I've had kicking around for decades, including some of the first scopes that I ever purchased, back when I rode to the gunshop on a bike with a banana saddle. I remember the astonishment I felt when I first mounted and used my first riflescope, an old Bushnell Scopechief .22 model with the integral rails. I thought it was the cat's ass at the time...now I can barely see through it. It hasn't gotten worse over the years...I'm simply accustomed to good stuff today and the difference is glaringly obvious. And this doesn't even address the improvements in durability and reliability that one gains by buying quality.

I'm not saying that everyone needs or wants a Zeiss or a Nightforce on every gun they own. But please, please, please stop telling those who do choose to use these instruments that your Scorpion/BSA/Redhead/Barska/NCStar/Leapers/KingOptics/whatever is just as good...or even almost as good. You may not know that it's not true, but we do. If it makes you happy, great...it's good enough for you, for now. Shoot for a few years, or a few decades, and then see how your opinion changes.

Well said sir.

WELL SAID ! Now, I am absolutely not opposed to people using low end optics if they want to / have to and I've said before that some of the low end stuff has improved dramatically - a rising tide floats all boats if you will - and I looked through some ZOS and Fake Leupold (both, of course Made in China ) scopes recently and you know what - they weren't bad. BUT, none - absolutely none - of the cheap scopes can compare to today's quality optics. It is like the Made in China stuff is optically 30 years or so behind which, I suppose, means that they are as good as scopes I was using in the 80's as far as glass is concerned - now reliability would be another matter.
