Okay you old 12(6) farts!

[/B]
What do you mean by that???
same rules for 12.6 as restricted.
I just had an inspection today, never batted a eye at the 12.6 or 12.5,3 etc.

You were inspected and most restricted firearm owners with fewer that 10 registered guns are never inspected unless there's been a theft or they're registered collectors and have signed the waiver form.
Obviously that's a difference.
I don't want the cops or the CFO inspectors in my home EVER.
Am I paranoid?
Fracken right I am considering the RCMP/CFC seige on gun owners that's been going on since c68 became law in 1995.

Ps: if any of you "old farts" have a Nazi marked PP it is the only hole in my collection... I'll give it a good home!

I have a WWII era Walther PP. Not the best shape. But still she's not for sale.

you can only get the 12.6 if the guns are passed down to you from a family member.

Sorry, gotta ring the WRONG GONG on that one.
There is no way for anyone to acquire 12-6 status who doesn't already have it.
You can inherit CERTAIN handguns from CERTAIN relatives under section 12-7 if the gun and the relative meets the criteria.
That 12-7 status allows you to possess that specific 12-6 handgun and doesn't confer the privilege (called "grandfathered status") on you of acquiring other 12-6 handguns.

Yes there is. Change the law.

If FA section 12 was repealed then there'd be no need for 12-6 status because there'd be no such thing as 12-6.
The CPC said prohibited firearms are staying. If they were going to repeal section 12 they'd have done it by now.
Time is getting short on the CPCs mandate so they threw us a few chicken bones called the something or other licencing act.
So who gonna do dat law changin to eliminate section 12?
Justin and the LPC? Harper and the CPC aren't polling none too good so Justin will probably be the next PM.
Justin will without a doubt eliminate the need for 12-6 for sure because after his tenure there'll be no handguns in Canada 12-6 or otherwise.

Sure there will still be handguns in Canada. You'll just have to be in the military or a police force, to have access to them.

I did have a hoard sold most of them over the years, but kept a few.The one I regret selling was a Colt Diamondback 38 Sp. not much of a caliber but pretty to look at for a Revolver.

12.6 guns aren't all that and a bag of chips y'know..

Sure... On principle 12.6 is offensive, but I sold most of mine off because they weren't all that impressive to shoot.
Short barrelled handguns don't really shoot accurately enough for me and .32acp/.25 are weak and anemic.
All I've kept is ONE 4" S&W mod.15 .38... 'Just so I can retain my 12.6 endorsement.

Y'all can keep those crappy worthless pocket pistols

^^^^
I agree...
and as a reloader, 32acp is a pain to pick up and reload for.

Therefore I kept only two 12/06 in my safe, a Luger, and a S&W Highway Patrol 4".

I'm not sure why anyone without a 12.6 would care if prohib. Guns are sold...The government states that you cannot own them without a 12.6 and, you can only get the 12.6 if the guns are passed down to you from a family member. Soo.. What you want to do is find out if any 12.6 member on here has a cute daughter, marry her, get her father to pass her the guns, and then have her pass them to you. Voila instant 12.7 status.

Edited for 12.7 correction.

You are missing only one thing, the guns in question have to be manufactured before 1947.

Here's a bit of a twist:

My S/O's father has a couple prohibs. The CFP is aware he has them, allow him to have them, but won't issue a 12.6 or whatever.

Any way to get this corrected so my S/O can inherit them?

On second thought, I think this is more a case of 'don't wanna' issue the correct license? Any people who had the same problem? Perhaps I could quote their 'case' to the father in law?

Good eye... I didn't say it was WWII.... I said "like" this one... ;-)
This sample is actually West German Border police surplus.... 1964

Still the sleek classic lines of the venerable Walther PP & a great shooter. What a beauty!

the main problem I find in shopping for 12.6 guns is the price.. People are just unreasonable considering the diminishing group of potential buyers. No one wants to lose money on an item, but c'mon guys.. full retail price or higher for a gun that is post '46 and 99.999% likely going to the grinder eventually?

When I feel like selling mine I will more or less give them away just based on principle.. That is why I own 12.6 guns, and recently got into the AR rifle also,.. because the nannies didn't want me to! LOL If we get enough AR's to give just one 'progressive' a coronary we did ok :)

screw the libtards

I kept a S+W model 18 (.22LR) with a 4" barrel.
Not too many of those around.
The smoothest double action revolver I ever fired.
Love that gun.
It'll be going stateside with me when I move.

When I recently sold the 4 I put up on the 12(x) forum I must've had the right asking price point as they were all gone very quickly.

No regrets though, it was time for them to move on.

As a 12(6) holder the only way I'm paying big $$$ for a 12(6) now is if it's (1) in exc +++ shape (2) on the bucket list.

I've already owned most of the one's I've ever wanted, though. So, no rush to acquire any more now.

Just my own .02....

Seems passing strange that the CFP would allow an unlicensed person to own 2 x 12-6 prohibs.
