2014 Vancouver Island Precision Rifle Championship Nanaimo

I will be driving up Friday night and staying at a hotel (I am NOT a morning person.) If anyone needs some stuff transported or wants to meet up for a beer let me know.

Annnnnnnnnd down to 7.

6 actually, but that means I should have enough volunteer target pullers (Service Rifle shooters) to make the match roll supper slick.

Next SR practice is 1st November, and if you guys want to follow along precision shooters are more than welcome.

That is waaay...... more people than spring of 2010 when I was the only one that showed up:sok2 .
This will be a great match. We can have the movers run the length of 4 target bays :dancingbanana:. We should be able to get in lots of interesting stages and blasts from muzzle breaks won't be an issue.
See you all Saturday.
Paul

Match Results Van Island Precision Rifle Championship

Thank you to Match Director Will Mackeigan for running a great match. It had challenging positional shooting, snaps and the crowd favourite; the movers. The mix of cloud ,rain, sun and a touch of wind added to the complexity of the match.

Stage 2 and 4 required a quick reload of the bolt guns and the correct magnification to reacquire the target for the follow up shot before it disappeared behind the berm. For some it was the first time they were shooting in yards so adjustments on the fly helped keep the rounds on target especially from 457 m. All shooters went for the higher point value of the figure 14 on the stage 9. They were punished for this decision if they did not read the wind.

Thank you to the Service Rifle shooters for the professional job working the targets. And most of all thank you to the competitors who came out to take part and make this shoot a great success. Many of the shooters traveled a great distances and at some expense to take part. Hopefully this enthusiastic support for Precision Rifle will not go unnoticed.

It was a pleasure to see nice scores, tight groups and the friendly folks who support Precision Rifle.
See you next time down range.
Happy Thanksgiving Day!

Great day of shooting guys and gal :)
Looking forward to the next shoot.
A big thanks to Wil and Paul and target pullers :) and all who showed up to help and of course to the people who came and shot the match.
Nice shooting there Adam:) Congrats ;)

I want to send out a big thanks to everyone who attended. Both shooters and butts crew, you made the day run smoothly.
For next time I plan on ironing out a few details (like online registration) and once I am 100% on the COF I will put up videos of the match's so people know what fun they can sign up for.

Great match, huge thank you to Will, Paul and all of the volunteers who make the day possible. Had a great time and sliding into first was a pleasant surprise :) Also thank you Illae for the use of your spotting scope, it was a big help to us.

Gunnerlove:

From one MD to another MD; good on ya for getting this match going! The western shooting community needs this. I'm glad to see you and the crew stepping up for some community building.

One of these years I will join you BC PR shooters. :)

Cheers, Barney

Stage 9.

Does anyone have any pics from when it was raining? Here's a nice sunny one from the end of the day.

I had an awesome time at the event. A HUGE thanks to Will, Paul, and the amazing butts workers (sorry don't remember all your names). The event ran like clock work, so smooth and fast it was military precision of running an event.

Will came up with a challenging course, a lot of double shots from a bolt action rifle in 5 or 6 second exposures added a new level of challenge that was great, especially with the movers. I very much enjoyed it.

And thanks to all the other competitors who came out, it was a great friendly competition and everyone was so nice.

I had a great time, I can't wait for the next one.
