2014 Vancouver Island Precision Rifle Championship Nanaimo

Long and short of it, I only have 8 confirmed competitors, but come hell or high water I will be running a live range for you guys this Saturday. If anyone wants to pull out let me know, it will not be a big group but a good chance to shoot movers and back to 500m.
I do not like the cheque and snail mail system and think it is the way of the dinosaur and need to go online and soon.
0800 show up to square away the range and shake out gear
0900 first round down range (we will wait for the people from Van who are coming)
1630 is my goal end time.

Anyone sitting on the fence sign up. No excuses. I have shot this match and I am a way better target puller:popCorn: than a shooter.
Contact Gunnerlove and bring your paperwork to the match with the $$$.
I will be there to run the butts. I am going to whip through the targets so you guys get maximum rounds down range. I will bring my stop watch, round counter and hole gauge. You guys bring the rest .
Gunnerlove is a true professional, top Canadian:canadaFlag: and World class shooter. We are fortunate to have him as our Match Director.

Abbreviated course of fire.
200m deliberate, all 10 on score.
200m sitting mover
200m sitting snap off partners shoulder

400m deliberate all 10 on score
400m prone snap
400m prone mover

500m Deliberate all 10 on score
500m prone Snap
500m prone 5 minute deliberate on a fig 12 or Fig 14 (figure 14 is worth more points).

Simple, and some things most people don't practice regularly.

Only 8 confirmed? Darn. For what it is worth I had my registration in months ago and my cheque was cashed long ago as well :) Thanks for putting the match on regardless ...

My 2 cents: Having both attended the provincial match and being registered for the van isle match, the BCRA is pretty unorganized. You get no confirmation of your registration and no communication whatsoever on date changes, it's up to the entrant to make sure they stay on top of any changes - including trying to find out if the event is even going to occur. This makes it pretty unappealing to people trying to go to a match for their first time. Registration via snail mail, cheques, it's all very outdated. If the BCRA wants to attract new members and new competitors to their matches they need to step up their game. Make it easy for people to register, to find out additional information. Keep the website up to date with event specific pages with information, not just a schedule. Advertise. Membership fee's are high for those entering a single match a year (the introductory membership is nice, but I don't know if I'll renew next year for the matches - especially with uncertainty. I would prefer match fees to be higher.) Being volunteer run is difficult but if the BCRA wants to attract the next generation of shooters it will have to adjust. Consider this my volunteer application :)

I'm still thankful that the event is occurring, and for your efforts Gunnerlove, PMJ, Mike. It'll be a great match regardless and I'll have fun.

I'm in still - I have the ferries and accommodations all booked so there is no way I will miss this. Bummer that it is only 8 people. I do agree that the BCRA needs to get a little bit into the 21st Century - there are out-of-the-box solutions to selling spots to things like this. That and EMT is a great way to transfer money.

That being said - I registered for my BCRA membership at the BC Precision match and still haven't gotten my membership package.

10 rounds per stage for a total of 90?

we tried to get more involved about 5 years ago and drive the tactical rifle aspect into more of a forefront with the BCRA....it wasnt highly regarded then by some of the old guard and I reckon its still the case.....we even had our own dedicated website that was funded personally by one of us....but intrest again dwindled so we are where we are......GL will put on a fun and challenging match and I think a few more of us will get out more and get involved again to drive up interest.....so hopefully 2015 will see better numbers.

good luck to all!

Know if there is a way to get involved to help out in any way with the BCRA or for the BC Precision Rifle competitions?

Go to the AGM....push for change....hopefully it gets more recognition this time.......a lot of us got caught up with life/work and shooting took a back seat....

90 rounds if there are no reshoots.
No sighters, but there will be a 10 rnd single indicated deliberate at each range to help out those who lack access to a >200m range.

The current BCRA registration is frustrating for both competitors and organizers.
Change will be coming (at least for Service Conditions).

I spent 5 Hours at the range yesterday practicing. This is a kick in the nutz for me....

Come anyways! I have been shooting this stuff around a year and a bit, and don't get out to practice all the often. At the very least - you'll get to shoot things you normally wouldn't.
