Smokin deals on Grand Power 9mm's/.22's and range reports

For .22 pistols there are lots that run well out of the box with a variety of ammo..... Ruger and Browning for example. Some others are hit and miss and may only like higher velocity or slower powders. My go to test ammo is CCI Blazer bulk....it's been good in all my auto loaders, either pistol or rifle. It has the right pop to cycle well. If a gun won't run with those, then the gun needs some work lol

It's true that some .22lr semi auto guns have a reputation for being non fussy...... others not so much. When it comes to guns that resemble their bigger brothers the percentage that are not fussy seems to go down. I've read many instructions for .22lr semi auto conversion kits that say plainly that only certain ammo will function reliably.

That said this is a purposely built, dedicated .22lr made by a company that prides it self on a quality product.... I expect reliability similar to a Ruger.

I wish mine was.

When it shoots, it shoots well. It feels great in my hands. It's accurate. It just isn't reliable at always extracting the empty case and feeding in a fresh one.

Got some time tomorrow (Wed) night? Come to Semiahmoo F&GC 7-9pm. I'll be there. Bring all your .22LR ammo and you can try mine and compare it to yours. Mine has over 1000 rounds through it and it's still a PITA with operating reliably. I don't have a lot of variety of .22 ammo so maybe I haven't found the right one yet. It'll get sorted one day.

I can't make it tomorrow night but I will update you on how mine function when I get a chance, I'll be trying mini-mags,federal blue bulk,Dynapoints and anything else I can find.

Do you run yours dry or wet?

Extraction problems I'd be looking at the extractor hook and how it interacts with the cartridge and also maybe the condition of the chamber.
Feeding could be mag related? Does it perform better with one mag vs another?
What does Grand Power have to say about it? They definitely state that the gun is designed of reliability with many loads.

Looking forward to your results!

Trying both. Now that it's broken in some I'll repeat everything I've done in the past.

I've looked at the hook and thought it could be made better, but I don't know enough about this to make any changes if required. It isn't something I'd do on my own.

I have fewer problems when the mags aren't as full. Running them with 7 and less rounds works fairly well. This is one of those things I want to revisit. I haven't had much chance to shoot it lately and with all you guys buying GP guns it has got me thinking more about it again.

That's why I bought it in the first place. (sigh) Haven't made any real formal inquiries. Like I said, I've been busy the past while.

I too, base all of my life's purchases on the 3rd party design of a hired web designer when purchasing products of value.

Site probably could use some skrillex dubstep and tits to sell their guns. Maybe some washed up celebrity endorsements as well.

I bought my second Grand Power based on performance in real life.

Your requirments may vary.

Looking at their website... Utterly not impressed!

Got the slide off now can't get the ####ing thing back in

Yes I'm holding the take down tabs all the way down and I'm pulling the slide back as far as it goes but it just doesn't seem to want to sit in the frame properly to go back on

Any tips guys?!?!?

Pull harder.
I'm serious. Pull many times until it just can barely bite and is stuck all the way back. Then smack it on the top and watch it magically click into place.

Also ensure that the barrel is extended out and is rotated int he proper direction.

Thank you

I am gonna do it first thing in the morning. Too aggrevated and don't want to break the damn thing now so I'm gonna leave it for tomorrow.
What a ####ing pain this pistol is.

Bfiles, are you struggling with the k22 or the k100?
With the .22 there is no worry on barrel position so that makes it a bit easier and I noticed that when you are reassembling and pulling the slide back with the rear of the slide lifted up you don't need to hold down the release tabs..... I guess the angle of the slide allows it to clear the tabs on it's own.
Just pull firmly to the rear past the tabs and then lower it flat onto the frame and finish with a firm push down mating the two peices with a click.
If it still won't go all the way after it "clicks" you might be caught on the slide release/lock.

Yep, .22lr pistols are always a PITA.

One tip...

The mags for the K22's are relatively easy to take apart for cleaning and affordable.
Take the spring and follower out periodically and clean them.

As for disassembly, practice does make perfect.

Canuck223 Would you please share your knowlege with us newbies as to what brand/type of .22 has functioned best for you in shooting the KS22? Thank you.

I literally just got my personal K22 X-trim two weeks ago and have barely 100 rounds through it. Federal 711 and 714 seemed to work fine but it's too small a test to say for sure.
We put a few hundred through the suppressed K22S at the factory but I can't recall the brand of ammo used.

kthx and if you do find one ammo that works particularly well please share with us if you dont mind. Unfortunately I am not someone who can get to the range that often so any intel from other sources is appreciated.

I haven't got my K22S yet but I'll be trying Federal Champion, Rem Thunderbolt, Rem Golden Bullet, Win 555 and CCI mini mags. Surely something will work reliably. I guess I'm spoiled as my Buck Mark seems to work with everything.

What recoil spring are you using? The thin one or the fat one?

Quick look at that forum and it says they are getting three springs and that they should be coupled?
Don't see that in the manual and mine came with one spring in the guide and another loose in the box....
I guess I will join the grand power forum and also ask about the change in rail size... Jaro used to post here under k100 I believe but now Canuck223 is the only active rep for Grand Power here.

There are a couple youtube links at Canucks forum showing the breakdown and reassembly nicely. They are not in English but easy to follow and it looks like no need to touch the takedown buttons for the 9mm on reassembly .

This is exactly what I just figured out right now.

Got the slide on it and check function, then took it all apart again and Di thay several times. It is definitely a learning curve on this pistol, lol.
Got it all worked out guys.

Thanks for the help nutters
