Smokin deals on Grand Power 9mm's/.22's and range reports

Missed the delivery on mine on Monday and finally picked it up from the post office today. I have to say after handing it and dry firing I love it!! One of the most ergonomic guns I've ever held! Also trigger is surprisingly good too! Can't wait to shoot thing thing! I'll call this one 'Gloria' lol

Just got my k22s. Very impressed with the build quality, fit and finish. The fit and finish on the k22 is easily as good or better than my old m&p 22.

I've found on the k100 that to re assemble its easiest to get the slide back as far as you can, then pull down the takedown levers to get it the last 3-4mm. On the .22 I can get it back together without doing this, but I think the extra spring tension in the 9mm makes it that much more difficult. May just be mine but it might work for the rest of you as well.

Can't wait for my registration papers so I can head to the range!

Can-down. Be careful with dry firing your K22s. Mine feels like it has a firing pin stop, but the firing pin is just a tiny bit (~.010) too long and actually does impact the barrel. I've got quite a few .22's of different makes and models - some have a firing pin stop and are safe to dry fire, some are not. Going to put this one in the "do not dry fire" category for now.

I've got some drywall anchors in the chambers.
 
I just tried a reassembly on the 22 nesting the two springs together and with everything from the soft touch to MAX force I cannot get the slide back on. It will go on easily with either the smaller or larger spring but not both.

Also FWIW on my gun red is NOT dead. Black is dead and red is safe.
 
It's a one or the other thing with these guns by the sounds of it not both springs like the gun Canuck just received.
Ignore the color and think of it as a 1911 style thumb safety.

Ok I must have misread what Canuck said as I thought he mentioned trying both together but maybe on the 9mm?

The new version of the K22 X-Trim Mk12 has a combined spring - that's the one Canuck223 has. The version of the K22 X-Trim Mk12 that we just got from Dlask uses just one spring at a time.

Back from the range. Due to limited time to shoot, I only shot 60 rounds of my K22 X-Trim. Tried loading only 5 rounds in a mag of CCI AR Tactical. Worked great. No massive zit-popping of live ammo when trying to feed. I think the mag springs are way too strong when you have 8-10 rounds loaded and it causes jamming or zit-popping projectile issues with live ammo. I'll check it out more next week if I get some time to shoot (I'm an RO at my local range and I need another RO around to spell me off).

If your K22 had a single recoil spring installed when you got it, don't try and install the spare as well.
The nested twin recoil spring came later.
If you have not already done so, take a peek under the foam on the top of the case. You should find your owners manual and cleaning brush there.

Are you saying if i received a spare spring I have an early unit and should try to acquire a nested spring set for better behaviour?

I don't think he's yet addressed the question of whether or not the units are upgradable and if it's necessary for increased reliability.
 
Solved the holster issue.

Goto bladetech, custom order an STI GP6 holster to your requirements.

I got a nice carbon finish with stingray loops. Ordered and shipped to my door 2 days. Duties was about $20.

Perfect. Perfect. Perfect.
 
Canuck223, why did they ever changed the slide profile? I was kinda curious about that, kinda liked the look of the old slide a bit better.
 
My k22 x-trim 22lr has a spare recoil spring also in the box.
The one that came off of the pistol upon disassembly is skinnier amd longer then the spare.
I first that that the extra spring was for a 9mm version but no idea now.

Any suggestions? ??
 
Dave, can you tell us what the track record is on the first generation Mk 12 .22lr's?
Also is it possible to upgrade to the newer recoil spring ?

Seems like there is at least one Grand Power customer who is at his wits end trying to get his gun to run (bought full price earlier this year).

I know your signature line says you are the grand power business rep for North America so perhaps customer service and warranty is not your department?
While I'm at it what is the warranty and function expectations on these pistols?
If they won't run with most common ammo what's a guy to do?
With the transfer of distribution to Trigger Wholesale I imagine it will land on them to get any non functioning guns functional.... Till then any tips from the motherland and historical information would be nice!

I've been working my mags springs by hand just to break them in a bit before going to the range but after hearing your report I think I'll load them up and leave them in the safe with the springs compressed.
The mags seem pretty good but the there are some sharp edges around the feed lips .

I'm pretty sure mag springs don't get weaker just sitting loaded, they need to be loaded/unloaded. (springs)

The goal isn't to weaken the spring but more to set it a bit.
It takes a bit of time and probably depends on the spring material and heat treating but I've noticed a difference with glock 10 rounders that were easier to top up with time as the springs "set".
