My application was received on Dec 8, I tried to logon to the rcmp site today (Dec 10) but it says my information does not match. How long does it usually take before I can check my application online?

Yes I am being serious. Just another update. It turns out that the rcmp were trying to reach me for a proper interview. I guess the interview I had last week didn't suffice. I was asked: what is the purpose of your application?, how long have you been interested in guns? which gun club are you looking to join? These are on top of what my references were asked when they got interviewed. On top of all this, they actually interviewed my wife yesterday (luckily). Again same questions as before about the purpose of the application, which club i am going to join, plus is wife aware that I am applying for a firearms license and is she ok with me owning a firearm? I got the full pat down yesterday I think particularly to a) the shooting in ottawa and b) I live in the GTA. Both pertains to my situation because a) I have a really weird spanish name that is pronounced differently than when initialized b) born in a country considered to be in the axis of evil list (ie. middle east) c) I am neither spanish nor middle eastern (spanish by ancestry only) d) I speak fluent english. Yeah, I get the same treatment whenever I cross the border and they have a look at my passport.
I get that some guys just get interviewed once and that's it. I am one of those people that always gets red flagged. So my case is on the once-and-a-while scenarios.
and you want to own a gun???
Canada isn't a racist country an its citizens aren't discriminated because of their names. I'm talking from my own experience
no ofence to you.
You have to wait the minimum 28 day waiting period before anything will show online. That's 28 days from the day they receive it. So try again next year!~
Does this include upgrading from PAL to RPAL, i.e do I have to wait the full 28 days even though I have already been approved for a PAL? The first post in this thread suggests not but I've heard otherwise. Would be good to hear from anyone with experience upgrading from PAL to RPAL in regards to application processing times etc.
39 days from when I sent in application till it went online and credit card charged for me. Eleven days passed since that, and my references still have not been contacted yet. I have had PAL for 18 years, and just did club ATT course, a refresher PAL and RPAL with test, just prior to applying for the R upgrade. Doubt I will see mine this year. Hope that helps.

Mine just showed up online on Tuesday and when I called in they said to call in the next week and I could likely get my refs to call. So I'd call in if I were you to see if you can get your refs to call in. Mine is a first time app for PAL/RPAL.
None taken. In fact I work for the government, and the government I work for does discriminate. They obviously cannot publicly (or even privately) say it outright. Anyway, I'm only being singled out because my name does not match the country I was born in. I'm used to it because the Americans do it to me every time I cross the border (after 9/11). So it doesn't bother me, and besides, I've got nothing to hide.
Must be something else. I was born in Pakistan and I live in GTA. Never ever had issue at the border. Infact I only use Buffalo airport for all continental flights. Nexus card does come in handy. And I do have a long name.
probably somebody with the same name is flagged somewhere and that is why you have hard times.Again, if you were born in the middle east and have a middle eastern name...or somewhere close to it, then yeah, they may not bother you. But like I said, I was born in the middle east, my name is not middle eastern, and my facial features are not middle eastern. That's why I get asked a lot. I don't care personally. I am getting my license and that's all that matters. Now the next step is applying for my nexus.....yeeeeshhhh.
When did you send yours in and when did they receive it?
