This .22LR shortage is starting to piss me off.

My local shop just got 50 boxes of Federal Target so I snagged 5 boxes. Still sitting on 5000 or so rounds so I am good for now I guess.

Bought packs of 525 remington golden bullet to plink away a year ago for 22$ each. Saw some last week at crappy tire for 45$ !!!! And the bucket-o-bullet right beside it for 69.95$... Walked out with 4 ;)

20 000 yellow jacket ?!?! Wow I need to find at least a brick of my favorite gopher ammo !!

I stopped using .22LR for gophers. I discovered 50grn Varmint Grenades in .224 for my XCR-L. A square shot with one of these out to 200 yards will frag a gopher. They will dust a possum or coon also.

You get minute of gopher with the xcr out at 200yrds? That's nice.

I barely use my .22s right now. No gophers around here and grouse require a shotgun by law.

I was able to pick up a few bricks of CCI standard for $46 each recently

I'm down to about 900 mini mags and 1050 Federal Blue box.

I cannot believe the manufactures haven't ramped up production, opened more plants ect, to meet the demand.

The fact that guys are still buying up anything and everything they find means there's no way they can catch up to the demand. So many people are hoarding that manufacturers won't catch up till guys only buy what they need vs what the store has in stock.

its a tough situation, we have no idea when more ammo will be in stock, we either buy a lot or go without.

I was in Sudbury yesterday, at a sporting goods store that sold reloading supplies. They were out of all powders and .22's.
Salesman told me that if and when I came across any, to buy it all up, even if I didn't need it at the time.
With expert's advise like this, it's little wonder we have a shortage

According to the manufacturers they have ramped up production. They blame hoarders for the shortage.

Only started shooting 22 this year, so I've only known the current prices.
I only use them for shooting at paper and bouncing balls for some dynamic exercises so I'll go through more than the average gopher hunter. I am now wishing I had bought more cci when I did see them earlier in the year but I didn't really understand that some rim fires are not made equal. Always learning something!

I thought I had more than I do... sitting at 7500 which is about a year's supply. I'll have to slow down in 2015 or switch to surplus 7.62x39. It may be cheaper and all those mag reloads will slow down my consumption lol.

Due to the fact of .22 & various other ammo shortages ( .22-250, & 7mm Rem Mag ) I'm going to look into purchasing reloading equipment! Now this will do nothing to help out with the .22 I know but will possibly keep me shooting more!
