problem at the range today! Need some advice for DA Socom 18

Trip to the smith is in order, get the headspace checked if that really did happen on the first round you fired through the gun....

Slide a cleaning rod down your bore and screw on a 40/45cal bore brush once it's poking out the bore. Pull that brush into the chamber/cartridge then tap it back out toward's the bolt. The bristles might have enough in the to push it out. If that doesn't work pull it back into the chamber but go deeper into the neck area and try to tap it out again.
You might scrap the bore brush but it should come out.

^^^ Done this several times. easy peasy.

It would appear to me from the photograph that U have more problems than just a stuck case. Looks like some of the steel around the chamber is damaged?

no I've had the rifle for quite a few months. I shot 500 nato norinco, then 160 or more of tula ammo - which is way more powerful (& why I like shooting it more, but I believe it's made cheap and might be dangerous in the m14 platform. Agree?

Trying to eliminate dirty chamber or still grease in it, But been shooting it so answers that question.

I'm sorry, but I don't understand your posting- it's a bit of a run on sentence. Please explain more clearly.

If you're implying it was dirty, I've cleaned it. That little bits of factory grease in the nooks & crannies would not compromise the function of the action. I just believe that the tula ammo cases are too weak for how hot they are loaded. They put out a huge blast & are very aggressive; violent to the action.

JamesD83, do you happen to know what the headspace is in your rifle? It seems plausible to me that a combination of hot loading, a weak case wall and an overly-generous chamber could have combined to produce the problem.

Well your post was pretty vauge, there was no prior history. Just first round, Blown case. Never said anything about you shot ammo from it before. So I was just trying to figure if maybe dirty chamber or still greasy chamber.

No I'm not sure of it. I'll definitely have to do my research and/or have it looked it before I try firing any ammo through it. thanks

ohh, ok. thanks. I don't believe that's the problem. I now realize that once I have the shell removed I will have to see if there is a issue with the headspacing

I remove broken cases with JB stick weld. I make a ball of stick weld and shove it into the base of the case making sure I don't get any on the chamber face. Let it sit for 20 minutes and then take a cleaning rod and lightly tap it and it should come out. The idea with the 40/45 cal cleaning brush sounds pretty good. Never though of that. Doing my method with a 40/45cal cleaning bush on the cleaning rod would even increase your chances of getting it out successfully.

good quality "spiral" ez- out[/U], should be enough to grab inside of case and spin counter clockwise out, don't horse it, you just want to get case moving, use some lube ....spray all around spent case at both ends.

Try JB stick weld. I've never had it not work. I seldom ever see a broken shell extractor actually work.

Thanks for the advice. I'll look into that.
The broken shell extractor was recommended alot, so I took a chance on it. But the shell is too stuck.

I plan on selling my remaining tula ammo (78 rounds) & might not risk my unopened case of barnaul (500 rounds), cause they are somewhat similar? I lik I look for reliability in firearms & safety. Might just stick to nato ammo

Is it possible to have a out of breach Firing To cause That kind of cartridge failure And smoke
If the bolt never locked closed the Ejector claw would have never grabbed the spent round.
How many rounds as this rifle seen? Should have the headspace checked Also. ??
