What would you use?

I'd grab a Colt or BCM, put either an Aimpoint or a thousand-dollar-plus 1-4 or 1-6 on it, a quality light on the front, a Vickers sling and roll with that.

I have beaten on plenty of guns - in fact I think I've probably got more current knowledge on how to kill an SKS than almost anyone. I also do not spend my entire life - and particularly my entire gun-based life - in Canada. I'm fairly often in places where an AR doesn't need to be at a range.

There's nothing I'd take ahead of a quality AR provided the task was 5.56-appropriate.

If you live in n urban area, your biggest threat in a SHTF scenario isn't something large and toothy, nor is it starvation, or lack of shelter, it isn't even a lack of water - your biggest potential problem is a breakdown in civil order. That means bugging in, not out and while bugged in being able to present a hard target, an AR that you can effectively use makes you a very hard target.

"minimum amount of attachments... for when SHTF."

Things that don't break, and don't have you relying on batteries. A model with a fixed front sight and a good folding rear sight or even an A2 carry handle sight. I wouldn't even bother with a free floating rail model with an SBR, for maximum weight savings. You can get picatinny adapters for stock and Magpul handguards if you feel that you'd benefit need lights or foregrips after some experience. After buying and trying a pile of different forgrips, I decided I prefer my handguard slick.

Get a single point sling mount if the rifle doesnt have one already.

The BCM charging handle is probably the most expensive upgrade I'd recommend to actually start with.

Get a good sling. 1/2 transition models are versatile enough for anything.

All other accessories, grips, stocks, ambi controls offer only marginal performance improvement over the stock, and aren't necessary to get immediately.

There's a Daniel Defense M4V5 on the EE right now that already has folding sights, a bad lever and a bcm charging handle with less than 300 rounds for 1400$. Good deal to get into an AR and leaves you room in your budget for a nice optic and sling. Not an SBR but still an awesome gun and would work just as well with some training.

Your argument is so disjointed and assinine, that it does not even warrant a response.f:P:

And your opinion is what it is, and you seem to have nothing to ad for a guy with an opinion, but you know what they say about opinions they are like A$$HOLES, everyone has one.

Why not add something of use instead of just the bare minimum, or is it that you really know nothing and just like to be part of a conversation.

Looking at getting a SBR/CQB rifle. Just wondering what you would you use as a minimum amount of attachments, like, say flashlight, red dot, BUS type of deal. What brand of rifles would you use and what brands of attachments? its going to be trained with as much as I can so I am efficient with it for when SHTF.

Aimpoint - 50,000+ hr battery life and you can throw it against a brick wall, put it back on your rifle and shoot the same groups.

Vickers sling - A must for retention

BUS - Lots of options from Magpul to KAC

Flashlight - tons of options but Surefire and Fenix is what I use on mine.

Thanks

Colt 6920 with high quality back up sights. Aimpoint T1 or PRO, this will give you a rugged fast acquisition optic with very long battery life.

Learn how to shoot your irons before you do anything elae, and forget the tacticool garbage

Urban is a Scenario, that might last a day to a week, longer if you stay, and only if you are already in an urban area. When and if you leave, you will carry less ammo if you have a 7.62 like a ruger mini 30, plus you will be less likely to be perceived as a threat with a mini thirty, legal and non restricted you can take it anywhere without a hassle, show up with a restricted AR, and whoever is the authority police or Army will be taking you to an overcrowded jail, and your family will be left to fend for themselves.

The 7.62 whether in a black or green rifle may not be the best for everything but it certainly can do everything effectively in a pinch.

Can be made to look menacing or Tacticool if you like to be like an operator, or relatively benign if you want to fly under the radar, and remain out of prison.

Have you read the original post ? He want advice on a sbr cqb rifle , not your grand papi's duck gun. If that's what your into cool... But you are way off the point.

I see that you also have nothing to ad other than an opinion, what do you mean by grand papi's duck gun, duck guns have long barrels meant for steel shot, I totally see how you could have confused that with a 12.5 barreled mag fed shotgun, funny enough my grand papi never owned the later. Anyhow thanks for that informative comment.

Kind of expensive but it is exactly what the op asked for and it is non restricted. So you can take it anywhere with no hassle.

@Beniw765 Just some gun ####, not a suggestion. Feel free to offer something useful to the thread.

That shotgun would be appropriate in the " black & green shotgun " section , and that fs2000 is a far cry from the mini30 you were suggesting a few post back.
The fs200 or Tavor would fit the bill perhaps for what the OP was looking for IF he were to double his budget.

Dude, the OP has his restricted license, instead of making excuses, why don't you just get yours and then we don't have to have these long intense debates about nothing.

I'm out.

Pretty short sited if you think that the only option for a SBR CQB is a restricted one NO?

If you remember me posting I owned an AR, you should have also assumed I had my Restricted License, and if you exercised your reading abilities, couple with common sense it would have saved you some time posting this^^^

My point is he wanted a SBR CQB this is a SBR CQB + he can take it anywhere, leave it in the trunk. Take it hunting, truly you must see the benefits.

I thought you had your panties in a bunch because the Mini 30 wasn't close quarters and it's not, so I obliged the OP and offered a good SHTF option that would keep him out of prison in the same scenario, and he never mentioned budget, so what does that have to do with anything, your just looking for an argument.

Anyhow wonderful contribution. And way to run away, it's about the only option when you have nothing to offer.

say 3000. for everything. including a case. it'll be bought over time (a year at the most)
@ Remisteel

Never mentioned budget ?

Not looking to pick a fight just expressing a different point of view than yours and you seem to call everyone out who does.
No kale today but training this morning was awesome.

Guys please, can we stick with what the OP was intended for?
We can all speculate as to what SHTF means and all, but I'm pretty sure a CQB SBR black or green rifle is gonna be restricted for now, feel free to start a thread in the appropriate forum if you think something else than a semi-auto short barrel rifle is your answer to the end of days. Would've been nice to see everybody's favorite SBR black gun set up in here, rather than arguing about something else...
