I finally decided, my 1911 on steroids is a Coonan 357 mag....

For a while there, i was looking at getting a 1911 on steroids, i had the choice between a 10mm and a Coonan 357 mag...
Since, i would like to avoid reloading and that there is a lot of 357 mag ammo available at very good price and after reading a ton on both, the Coonan was my choice...
From the House of 1911 naturally...
Going for my third T-shirt... JP.

Hope you like it. I had one and couldn't bond with it. Pain in the butt to load those magazines. I sold it after 1 month .

I have one and love it. I don't find the mags a pita to load and they are in fact very easy if you use the tool.
They are very accurate guns and recoil is manageable. Totally reliable with all the 357 ammo I have tried.

Don't expect to shoot low power 38 special loads with the included 10lb spring though. You need a decent +p for it to cycle or other mods to the gun (change mainspring etc.).

Overall it is just a fun gun to shoot. Enjoy.

The 10 pounds spring will stay in the box, no 38 Spl for this pistol, full trottle loads of 357 mag... Yea... JP.

Was strolling on Ammo Kate site and just pick up an order of some powerfull ammo ( Fiocchi 142 gr) for my Coonan the Barbarian 1911... This as a lot of Oumph... 1420 fps/ 650 pounds of energy... This gonna be fun... JP.

Winchester Winclean 125g jsp are the sweetest for fireballs....and concussion. I use to let those off at the indoor range and other shooters would just go sit down.
I shot a Coonan a looong time ago, an ex mod and original CGN'r had one. Was actually really tame to shoot.

Going in town today ( Baron), i will pick up 4-5 boxes of those 125 gr, they are in stock... Thanks for the tip... JP.

Remington 125gr ones are a nice big boom, decent fireball as I recall. The best I've seen are my reloads with 22gr of h110 and hornady 110gr XTP's. People thought I had a 44mag. I love the concussion. I've tried using ultra light bullets in my 500 but it doesn't seem to have the boom I'm looking for.

Cool

For the ultimate in boom, or more of an obnoxious crack-boom I love my 30M1 Ruger Blackhawk stuffed with H110. Factory loads are eh? compared to mine.
