All of factory centrefire rifle rounds will go through the animal. So penetration is not an issue.

Elk are NOT protected in Ontario... they are managed... as indicated by the hunting seasons available.
Correction accepted -- MANAGED should be the right word.
They're "managed" in every province and state, not just Ontario.
Still got open elk in SK. Having no non-resident season has helped keep it that way.
Ontario has an elk season.
Yup, And I will hopefully be living there this year or next right in the middle of the best elk zone in the province. My parents are right near Bancroft, a couple of my Dads friends went out last year. Protected? Not since 2011 when they started Hunts. Elk population is booming in Ontario. Could be in Alberta too, but I will much more likely be in Ontario first.

you mean a certified elk ticklerYes with an improved shoulder, which makes it faster and therefore a certified elk killer. - dan
No license needed?
And no nonresident season would be one method of "managing", no?![]()
Open means no draw. Walk in to your local store, buy a tag. Hunt any zone that has a season. I don't think any other province has that for elk anymore. It means I hunt elk every year, and it's beautiful.
And yes that's a method of managing. Seems to be the best one. Our deer season is flooded with hunters from Quebec and Manitoba nosing in where they have no permission. At least they instituted draw only for non-residents this year. It prevented the flood this year and should the next as well. It makes sure areas aren't saturated anymore with road hunters.....
Call me grumpy, but thats how I'm getting as people from areas that are hunted out keep showing up here.
Is it still that Hansen buck that gives you guys that attitude? Your deer are nothing special and your elk certainly aren't either. I don't know of too many guys going into SK from MB hunting that are licensed hunters, your deer numbers in the areas non residents are allowed to hunt (northern) that are bordering onto MB are as depressed as here, perhaps worse.
As for elk, I believe both AB and BC have OTC tags, though not in all areas, but they have more elk than you have gophers.![]()

Perfect. Please tell as many people as you can exactly what you just posted.![]()
Except I don't know anyone that goes to SK to hunt deer or elk, sorry.
