ACR Media and Info Thread

Just got my ACR back from Herron Arms. Excited to try it out!

A Viper PST 2.5-10x32 and Super ACR trigger are getting installed in T-minus 3...2...1... ;)

^ SFX, great taste; I really like the look of the solid stock and FDE receivers. Also, I think I saw your rifle in the shop when I went to pick my rifle up a week ago. If I found a magic lamp, I would end up with three ACR's...

Haha, yes, probably was it as I just picked up from the post office this morning. What work did Ian do for you, also an ACR?

Now if only my AAC Blackout flash hider I ordered from IRG would show up... Ping! :)

added a x3 and raised the H1 to 1/3:

I barely sighted the MBUS PRO and Magpul came out with a "LR" 600m version... oh well.

What would the cheapest place to buy a restricted acr from? Also how much better accuracy wise are these compared to the xcr. For the most part i am seeing 2 moa which doesnt seem great for a 3500 rifle.

mine is under 1moa with factory ammo so long as I do my part, but it is a 450 caliber

An ACR is not $3500. You could buy one already converted to non restricted for less than that.
IRunGuns was bringing them in for $2500 and I've seen them in local shops for $2700 where I was told they would match the IRG price.
Most ACR's are getting close to 1moa if you use quality ammo. If you use norinco junk or other fmj bulk of course you won't get awesome accuracy. Feed it crap and chances are your results will be crap, this goes for almost every rifle out there.

People also need to get away from the idea that just because a rifle is over $2000 it should be capable of sub moa. These are battle rifles not precision long range rigs. Sometimes we get lucky and a rifle designed as a battle rifle is capable of shooting tiny groups but that's just a nice bonus. We're paying for the materials, R&D, and manufacturing costs then blend in some supply and demand price adjustment with some import fees and profit margins for everyone involved and you get the Canadian price.

If you want a sub moa semi auto for cheap then buy an AR with a quality barrel. Otherwise the ACR is currently your best option for an accurate 223 semi auto.

Well I finally got out shooting with the ACR and the new to me non restricted Questar stainless barrel. I'm pretty impressed so far, below is a picture of a group made at 100 yards off a picnic table and a backpack. The ones marked as sighters were getting the scope zeroed (turret adjustment between each shot) and the clump of 5 were all shot consecutively. Ammo used was just cheap American Eagle 55gr black box

The one with a ? I think was the last sighter before my last turret adjustment but I don't really remember as I wasn't really paying much attention until I saw the 5 shot group starting to look really good. Next time out I'll be testing some other types of ammo as well as some handloads.
These were also shot fairly quickly and the barrel was pretty warm while doing this.

Cr5 you got a Questar barrel now?? I know your gonna say no but try some Norc thru it. My Questar barrel shoots a touch better then that with Norc and a 4x32 ACOG

the Questar is what 1/8? I'd be more curious to see how it does with 62 or 77 personally

Norinco ammo will never come near any of my quality rifles. If I ever get another M305 I might buy some but that's it.

I'll be trying Black Hills match 75gr as well as Nosler match and a few others and some handloads of various weights that I have in the drawer the next time I go to the range.
Ya, 1:8 twist with Wylde chamber.

Herron Arms now also have my Restricted ACR. Getting a Barlein barrel installed. Can`t wait. I will provide feedback on this forum...
