PGW coyote

DG & ezkmo I agree as Ross is great to deal with. The bottom rail was so simple to attach as well. Now if it wasn't bloody -50 with the windchill I'd go shooting ... but lately it's brutal cold out darn it. My GG&G bipod slides on perfectly with the new bottom rail. I am a HAPPY person thanks to PGW! :D

-50 holy ####! You need a heated ice fishing shelter to shoot from. Enjoy your new Coyote they are very accurate.

I was once real hot for PGW then got cooled off for a couple reasons. The first of which was how the company abandoned the civilian market support after winning the Canadian sniper rifle contract. The second was proven out on the range.

They shoot ok but not great. At least in the hands of the guys who I've seen using them. I've never seen anyone win an F Class event with one - at least here in Ontario.

If it was me about to lay out that kind of cash I'd probably put a Defiance Machine Deviant Action (see Alberta Tactiical) on a JAE 700 stock (Wolverine Supplies) with a Krieger barrel and Jewel trigger. This rig would cost you less than a PGW and most likely shoot better... certainly no worse.

Sorry I'd like to say something more positive about PGW but they got real big headed and dropped the ball a little bit not so long ago, and I'm not letting them off so easy.

I don't blame a company for pursuing lucrative military contracts, money talks, bull$&$& walks.

I don't blame a company for pursuing lucrative military contracts, EITHER.

I do however blame them for abandoning civilians while they did it. There was quite a period where it was impossible to speak with someone at PGW to order one. They just didn't care... Too busy with lucrative military contracts to care.

Its called fair weather friend... I'll pass.

All I am gonna say is, Im jealous...cant wait till I graduate from uni and can buy nice rifles. Till then Lee keeps me company. haha

I've never seen an f class rig blow a hole through a terrorist in Afghanistan either. They must not be that good...

The Coyote was designed to be a military sniper rifle not a paper punching rig for precision shoting discplines and it serves the intended purpose very well.

I'm sorry you feel that way, but I think you're being a bit harsh that we dropped civilian sales willingly.

When Ross and I landed the CF contract in 2005 (wow 10 years ago!!) , we were two guys in a 1000 square foot shop, with one CNC machine, a manual lathe and mill. Basically overnight we had to move all of that into a new 5000' shop, purchase 3 more CNC machines, and hire and train a bunch of employees. On top of this, we had to deal with the very detailed contract requirements as far as pursuing a contract with a NATO country, and especially a lot of red tape within the government itself. We had to rethink how we did everything, to make things consistent and fast enough to satisfy the delivery requirements of the CF, we fell well short of that, and were late on various stages of the contract. So no, we didn't willingly abandon the civilian shooters, we tried our hardest to please our Soldiers, who at the time were making a name for Canada on far away battle fields.

Our production now is smooth, and we can fill civilian orders quite quickly now as evidenced by the many positive comments on here. We now have 8 CNC machines, and including Ross and myself, there are 9 of us. There are plenty of western F class shooters winning with our stuff, out here and down in the US. I'm sure now the 'fan boys' will all chime in with pictures of groups, trophies and such to back this up.

Again, I'm sorry we couldn't make everyone happy in the shooting community, but our obligation was to the Canadian Snipers first.

IM very confident with Ross and Steve....... They deliver a great product and have been outstanding in the way they awnsered my questions so far. I'm putting my money where my mouth is.........Actually, I'm waiting for Roxanne to debit my credit card when she comes back to the shop this week........

I shoot F-Class and I also own a Coyote - my F-Class guns (Barnard P/Krieger for Open and Barnard S/Krieger for TR ) and my Coyote are different tools designed to do different jobs but, having said that, I have seen a Coyote win a F-Class match - I was there and saw it happen: Fella named Glen (Inspector here on CGN) used a Coyote to win the F/TR match a couple of years back at the Kamloops Target Sports Centre match held every year in memory of George Farquarson who was the founder of F-Class.

Obviously I can't explain why you have seen Coyote rifles shoot poorly but while I've never used my Coyote for F-Class it is a .5 MOA rifle and every othernone I've seen is pretty much a one-half-minute rifle as well.

All said, your idea of a Defiance/Krieger/JAE700 is also a good choice and would likely shoot very well if assembled by a competent person.

Back in 2007 Ross and the boys built me a Coyote in 7 WSM in a very respectable time frame(better than average for the industry). As far as accuracy goes, my Coyote shoots 1" groups at 300m and other members here have seen that gun dropped down on the firing line with rear bag and Harris bipod and cold bore fire a 4" group at 930m. I have had other requests for Ross that were fulfilled promptly so no complaints here with service, accuracy or quality, quite the opposite in fact.

Well this got interesting. Saying something negative about PGW here is the equivalent of dissing AI on Sniper's Hide lol (burned at the stake).

Rifles like PGW and AI are designed to deliver high accuracy with bomb proof reliability, that is their appeal. There is nothing that pisses me off more than when my expensive toys misfeed, jam, or go click when they should have gone bang. I will take a proven system with years of R&D behind it over a custom any day of the week.
