Tikka is not an AVERAGE bolt action rifle.
at 200 bucks cheaper than a ruger 1 it is
Tikka is not an AVERAGE bolt action rifle.

I use a semi 30 06
Like I said. I can think of countless animals (mainly moose) that if I had to do that cash register racking of a semi they would have never saw the inside of my freezer. If I'm standing an open meadow where a bunch of guys are dogging some coyotes out, he11 ya my Belgian bar 243 with red dot is the tool cause I get to rack that action long before the chase starts, but for accuracy, dependability, stealth I'll take a bolt any day
We sure are in agreement here. To like Baggy triggers, quarter ribs that don't hold POI worth diddley would take a lot of acquiring for me to suffer

So I'm a died in the wool bolt gun guy, but I don't understand why would anyone wait until he saw game before he racked the action of his semi-auto rifle, particularly if he was hunting in heavy cover. A semi-auto rifle should be carried cocked and locked, especially when hunting in heavy cover, and if you choose not to use it as it is designed to be used, don't be surprised if it doesn't work out to well. If the semi-auto rifle is appropriate for use in open country, then its also an appropriate choice when hunting in the bush.
I use a 7600 in .308 for truck gun/ hiking the bush for moose or setting up where my shots will be limited to 200yds or so. Not because the rifle won't do it, I've taken lots of deer out to 300yds with it but a 308 on a moose I limit to 200yds. If I am going to be sitting and calling where I have a good view I take the Sako 300wsm for some more reach. If I had to pick one the sako will never catch up to the meat that the pump has put in the freezer.
nice... A red dot...
...... Lapm
Did I mention Ruger #1's suck? That has no bearing on this post but it's for Hoyt
Taint accurate but on a 35 mph yote it picks up darned fast
Actually I did have one ruger number one that I could hit with....
