Are you a powder HOARDER? Am I? Is your buddy?

I find powder. I buy Powder. This thread however may get the wife off my back so to speak. I think your only a hoarder if you call your self one. Otherwise your a hobbyist.

You're right .......... Powder & primers are hard to get down here so you buy them whenever you can and stock up.

8LB'rs with some older Higginson bulk.

How much time you spending in there that you have to store a can of beans close at hand?

LOL .... "Bush" is a family name. I use the can for spare change. I hoard that too.

The last time I cashed in my change, I counted up $1800 and bought a safe with some $$ to spare for powder. :)

I hoard change too... but I give it all to Tim Hortons...

My goal is to have enough components on hand to be able hunt upland birds, waterfowl, varmints, small game, big game, and do a moderate amount of target shooting for the rest of my life with what's on hand. I can do that with everything but high volume shotgun target shells and steel waterfowl shells. Feels good. My ammo/components collection was assembled before the current component supply crisis, so no guilt here either.

I have two (2) pounds of IMR 8208 XMR for sale. They have never been used and I don't think I will use them. If someone is interested, give me a PM or a trade for Reloder 19.

^ if I was closer I'd hop onto the XBR in a heartbeat. Can't seem to find any now. Last fall Higginson had 8 pounders but I didn't yet know that it would work for me. :bangHead: Now I know.....

I'm only sitting on about 12lbs of powder but it's all stuff I can use. I'm trying to find myself some Blue Dot and I'll be happy.... Before my house burned last April I had about 35-40lbs of various powders collected since I started loading about 8 years ago.

Hoarding is a special term. I dont hoard, but I do purchase larger amounts than O normally would, in advance, to get around the problems of inconsistency between case lots and low availabity.

Ideally volume target guys should buy a single lot of powder primers bullets and enough brass to last the life of a barrel.

I used a lot of Bluedot for slug and buckshot loads when Alliant was available everywhere. I pretty much gave up on it and switched to Longshot (which I see you have). Personally, I'd just make do since if the rumours are true we wont be seeing much Alliant until at least late 2015/early 2016. Of course, once it starts coming back, it'll be flying off the shelves like Hodgdon and IMR rifle powders are now. They're coming in on a somewhat regular basis but are selling out almost immediately and will probably continue to do so for at least a few more months if not a year or two.

Real hoarders stocked up when dealers couldn't give it away. Panic buyers lick the empty shelves and pay 40-50. A hoarder didn't build up a hoard by paying double.

This ^^^^

I try to buy 1 lb every paycheque and eventually my stash do get to a good supply.

I have powders I bought 1 year ago for about $27 per pound that is now selling for $40 per pound.

Haven't reached the limit of 25 kgs (about 55 lbs) per house yet! LOL

Exactly. I actually haven't bought any powder for about 4 years. I have enough to last twice that long. I certainly won't feel sorry for any powder-challenged people who blame me for their lack of foresight.

Exactly, most of my powder was purchased years ago, and I haven't bought primers in several years.

I have no sympathy at all for people that don't plan ahead. If you don't shop for powder until you are into your last pound, there is a good chance that you will run out, it's just that simple.
