Day 42 for me. I called in today and was told my references could call in. Both of them called in this afternoon. Any idea how long I'm looking at now? Are reference checks the final step of the process?

It's funny, I'm finally online and yet checking everyday. It's only Day 39, I don't know what I'm expecting.
Do you guys call at this point? Or is it too early?
OK please don't be mad... I'm not trying to brag but... Day 39. They're ready for references to call in :O
Yes, I would call, now. I'm tracking different people's progress and it seems like the timing to get your references to call in and approvals is between 42 and 49 days if you're from Eastern Canada. For some reason if you're from out West, it seems to take 60+ days. God help you if you're from Alberta
This basically tells me that the ones responsible for issuing licenses for Alberta are not doing their job. If you base it on population they should be more productive than lets say Ontario or Quebec which have 3 times the population.
Thought I would update for general interest my timeline from completely new app, non gun owner to approved, guns purchased and fully legal to transport to range. I feel I pretty much did everything as quickly as possible in the process including keeping on top of my app. It seems I picked a busy time of year to apply but here is my final timeline to being legal for my first range trip.
- Dec 5th Application Mailed.
- Dec 11th (Day 1) Application Received and Signed for in Mirimachi.
- Jan 12th (Day 32) Application appears online.
- Jan 12th (Day 32) Called to ensure application is complete, informed it was and to call back in 1-2 weeks.
- Jan 22nd (Day 42) Called and informed not ready for references and to call back in a week.
- Jan 29th (Day 49) Called and informed not ready for references and to call back in 1-2 weeks.
- Feb 5th (Day 56) Called and informed not ready for references and to call back in two weeks.
- Feb 9th (Day 60) Called in and informed they are ready for reference to call. Had Reference call in immediately.
- Feb 13th (Day 64) Online Status changed to issued.
- Feb 13th (Day 64) Range Membership Purchased as well as two pistols.
- Feb 17th (Day 68) Dealer Initiates transfer, I call and transfer approved and STATT's faxed to dealer instantly.
- Feb 23rd (Day 74) Rpal Arrives in mail.
- Feb 23rd (Day 74) Pistols picked up from dealer.
- Feb 26th (Day 77) LTATT's arrives in mail from Manitoba CFO.
- Mar 3rd (Day 82) Registrations arrive in mail from Mirimachi.
So 82 days from arrival of rpal application in Mirimachi until I was legal to attend the range with my new toys.
Hey guys, I am looking for a little clarification and some help in what I should do. I sent my PAL application off January and it was accepted January 17th, I then saw my credit card was charged Feb 9th, and today March 4th I went online to check my status and it says my application is in the processing stage. None of my references have been called either. I was wondering if I should just sit tight or should I be calling and asking where it is. As well is the 28 day waiting period working days or are weekends included, I appreciate your input.
Hello, I was just wondering can you apply for your pal/rpal at the same time? Or do you have to get the PAL first then apply for the RPAL?
