The M1 Garand Build Thread

after seeing squintys photos over the past few weeks and remembering the lessons that Barney taught me in his workshop when i went to visit him about my garand, ive decided to build my own garand with the italian receiver i have sitting in my closet covered in cosmo. it will likely have one of those pretty dupage laminated stocks that barney had on his and ill try to use all SA NOS parts with a match grade kreiger barrel.. its going to be a fun summer build! :)

Picked up one of the Springfield receivers. It is a Aug 1942 (750,000 range) and is in about as good of shape as my beretta one, which is excellent!

Well.
I joined in this thread at the start. Post #2 ... A total green M1 Garand newb at the time.
Mined the wealth of knowledge offered here.
Bought good parts from quite a few of you'se.
Learned what I needed to know.
My shooting buddies filled in some golden bit's into the gap's.

It took 10 months to complete ... but I now have here one kick-ass M1 Garand rifle.
It shoots tight to POA. And that is what I wanted from the git-go.
The op rod was dragging on the primo walnut donated by my friend Avalonthas at first. Every en block would FTFeed at least once. My freind Kevin M helped me sort that glich.
All is good now.
Runs like the champ she is. 100%. Around 2-21/2MOA with these less than perfect "experienced" eyes. Who could ask for better?.
Really wish I was able to post pics for y'alls, but alas, 'tis beyond my technological capabilities ..... me's a lo-bucks fossil, I am.
Want to express heart-felt thanks to so many fine folks on this thread that helped me to where I am now.
