Hi,

I have a new MK18 that I just equiped with an EOtech 552 and some cheap magpul BUIS sight. :ar15:

I bought an AFG2 on the handguard and I'm looking for a support light and/or laser system.

Would like a left hand controled switch.

Do you guys have any suggestion? What about the Surefire X400?

Feel free to show your setup and if you have something else than light or laser come on in... :needPics:

Like your setup

And how do you like your M6X? Is the laser really accurate? Do you plan to add something else on your MK18?

Insight M3X on mine, the toggle switch one for now but I just grabbed a pressure pad one from the EE... that way I'll leave the other one on the MK25 permanently ;)
It works pretty good but its a bulb not a LED, it is a propper SOPMOD light th if that matters.
If I had a little more disposable income I'd add IRG's AN/PEQ-15 L3 Insight ATPIAL-C
.

Ix...J'en ai vu quelques un sur des setup. Je ne connais pas vraiment le L3 Insight ATPIAL-C, a quoi ca sert? C'est un marqueur pour vision nocturne?

Merci

You guys are killing me with all these threads. Add another onto the shopping list. You know, after the SSA-E, G33, DBal , surefire FH and now M3X. And I promised myself I wasn't going to try and do a legit clone.

c'est exactement ça, un peu overkill mettons mais bon, j'en veux un pareil...

The ATPIAL-C (Advanced Target Pointer/Illuminator Aiming Laser – Commercial) is a multi-function Class1 & Class 3R Infrared/Visible laser from L-3/Insight Technology. It features an Infrared Laser Pointer, Visible Laser Pointer (Red), and Infrared Laser Illuminator. Based on the standard issue AN/PEQ-15 (Class IIIb) for the U.S. Warfighter, the ATPIAL-C’s Class1/3R power makes it completely eye-safe and available to the general public. Class1 Infrared Lasers feature a 0.7mW rating which is not restricted by the FDA. Class1 Infrared Laser Pointers will easily reach out to 450 yards, encompassing most target engagement ranges when paired with a night vision goggle for the civilian and law enforcement professional. Considering that Gen3 Night Vision Goggles have a maximum target identification range of 100-115 yards, the 450 yard range of the ATPIAL-C is perfect.

The ATPIAL-C is a MILSPEC laser system, taken off the same production line as its full power counterpart, the ATPIAL. The only difference is the ATPIAL-C is fitted with a Class1 infrared laser pointer diode and Class 3R infrared laser illuminator (fixed focus – non rotating and epoxied in place) diode, instead of the full power (restricted) Class IIIb diodes. All other parts, components, and accessories are exactly the same as the standard issue AN/PEQ-15. The Red Visible and Infrared Laser Pointers are slaved so that zeroing one will zero the other in tandem. The Infrared Laser Illuminator is a true laser illuminator system, producing no bright downrange visible signature as seen in infrared LED’s. In order to stay within civilian legal guidelines, the Illuminator is lower power, able to reach 150 yards and is non-adjustable. This is perfect for short to medium range engagements. Like the full power ATPIAL, the ATPIAL-C’s Infrared Illuminator can be used to wash out the bloom of the Infrared Laser Pointer at engagement distances.

The way the ATPIAL-C works and is then FDA rated is simple and genius. Class1 lasers are eye safe since they are under 1mW at the point of measure. In a focused laser, you get about 450 yards range. But a Class1 illuminator will have significantly shorter range since it must be wider to be used as an illuminator. In fact, it would be useless as a weapon-mounted illuminator. Insight got around this by upping the power of the illuminator to 3mW (which is FDA class IIIR). If it were a visible laser, this would be no issue. But, IR lasers cannot be over 1mW in measured output. So, Insight made the illuminator “fixed” so that it cannot be rotated and adjusted. By doing this, they set it at a point where any measureable spot of the wide beam will register under 1mW, making it eye safe. This gives the illuminator enough juice to reach 125-150 yards while keeping it civilian legal.

The ATPIAL-C is a low profile laser system that mounts to any standard M1913 Picatinny Rail. It’s design allows it to sit lower on the rail than most other lasers, creating a “saddle bag” affect, so as not to impede the shooter’s sight picture when mounted at the 12 o’clock position. Its glass-reinforced high-strength polymer body housing is very robust and impact resistant. The unit features a simple dial selector for changing the output settings on top of the housing. Activation is achieved via the included remote pressure pad or on-board “fire” button. A rear-facing battery compartment makes changing batteries simple and convenient, even when the unit is pushed all the way forward against a standard AR Front Sight Base (by the way: you should never store your expensive night vision and lasers with the batteries installed). Windage and elevation adjustments require a small flat head screw driver and produce positive clicks.

The ATPIAL-C is the closest thing an individual can get to the standard issue full power ATPIAL.

don't mind me I just installed a KAC M4QD on mine, works just like an A2 but cost about 100$ more lol, I got a KAC T1 cap too, just in case I run out of battery in like 8 years...

yeah the M6X is definitely a more reasonable option and they usually come up on the EE everynow and then, I think CRAFM had some last I was there too.

The M6X is actually on the SOPMOD upgrade list. Legit for clones as far as that goes. I have not seen the M6X in any pics in the wild.

I used to dislike pressure pad so I had to position my X400 the left frond end of my rail, next to my Surefire muzzle break to be confortable with the toggle. After like 10 000 rounds, I burn the lens and broke the seal around it. Btw Surefire are great to deal, I emailed them to have it fix on my own dime (I knew it was my fault to put it next MB but that's where I like it) but they told they will fix it for free under warranty :)

I got a great deal on the M3X so I decide to give the pressure pad a try. With the pad now I can move the light to the right side and bring lens 2 slots back on the rail. So far after ~1000 rounds I didn't burn or leave any mark on the lens of the M3X yet lol

Here a picture of the X400:

I run a Inforce WML on a Thorntail offset mount , the light it's self has great ergos and combined with this mount it's puts it in an ideal placement. Not to mention how lite this set up is , 4.06 oz with the battery installed !

yes, the laser is very accurate. I suppose it would have to be, as this light/laser unit is approved and used in the military...
I really like the setup. Its extremely light weight and doesn't take up much space. With the paddle style backplate, I can access the light/laser with my support hand from either above or below the rail. Works great from me.

Hey 20-100,
I'm using a M3X with pressure pad right now but I used to run the X400, let me know if you want to try them. I'm free this weekend.

Merci pour l'offre, malheureusement je travaille...on remet ca bientot...Viens tu au Match le 28?

For the M3X is it a light/laser combination or only light system?

Looks really good...is the inforce a light/laser combo as the M6X and the X400?

Thanks to show up

It seems very compact...what is the operationnal range of the laser? I suppose that 50m should be the max you could see the red dot on the target?
