I think you should put the idea of hunting deer with a <.23cal out of your mind and use the proper tool for the job.Just because it's legal,doesn't mean you should,nor that it's right,nor ethical.Head shots are risky as you've conceded,and .224 bullets don't deliver the shock and energy to reliably drop deer in a timely fashion with less than perfect/marginal body hits.Smaller wound channels and weaker blood trails hinder tracking and recovery efforts.Imho,mature trophy northern WT bucks that can easily top 300lb live weight deserve more respect then a gopher gun can deliver.Oh, darn, one of those. Sorry I fell for it. I didn't think they could do that.
So lets say I went with a boiler shot. I know a T3 would be fine for accuracy, and think the Tavor could do it. The T97 um I don't know. Thoughts? (inside 100m)
