All weather 358 Winchester

Must have been that hideous laminate stock....

My preference or 'favorite' is and always has been nicely figured wood and blued steel. For wood and from a stable and functional standpoint, a laminate is probably a good choice but far from my favorite. That being said, for my tastes, it's still one step above 'plastic'. Borrowing a couple of Pauls photos

In the deal for the 375CT, I did get both stocks but it may be quite a while before I actually use, if ever, the second stock.

It's got so much going one...it's matte, it's stainless, it's plywood. I'm so confused. Make up your mind!!!

My interest in that specific cartridge started some time ago. There were a number of articles I'd seen on it, as well as info in P.O. Ackleys volume II Handbook For Shooters & Reloaders that sparked my interest. Even though I already have a model 70 Winchester Super Express in 375 H&H,

:redface:I felt the 'need' for a 375 Chatfield Taylor.

Taking into consideration such trivial 'things' like age, I don't know if I'll ever get to use either on 'appropriate' situations in the field. However,;) as I
still enjoy shooting and reloading, after seeing the rifle Paul had, I thought I'd better work on 'obtaining' one. :dIt's a keeper.

Got this rifle in 358Win finished last year. Bevan King did the fine work on the 22" bbl and another friend did the action work and bedding the McMillan. Weighs 7lbs 4oz as shown with FXII 4x. I'm quite pleased with it and good thing as Johnn Peterson recently talked me out of my 357CT so this rifle will nicely fill the the med bore gap in my safe. :)

Has shot very nice groups with 200 and 250 gr Hornadys. Still need to do some work on 250gr Speers and some 200gr TTSXs I have on the heap. Very flexible chambering for this part of the world for both deer and moose.

I apologize for being a bit late into this thread Paul, but like everyone I have to say thats a very nice rifle and Thanks for sharing with us.
Your rifle is very nearly the same weight as my little Ruger Frontier 358 with its 16.5 " barrel, but mine looks totally plain compared to yours, the 358 cartridge is a superb choice and I hunt with mine more than the others.

Its funny that you say that because I felt the ' need ' for a certain 416 Taylor and now I have.
Unfortunately I'm unable to post pictures because its a beauty...
