I broke the news to tony last night that we were contemplating a future move to Yukon...... he was kinda silent LOL
ah, it'll be okay, we can all meet up in burns lake once a year in October , then swap between yer island and the Yukon on even and odd years haha!

My daughter moved to Whitehorse thinking she would try it for a year. She fell in love with the life and has no plans to leave.
When she was a teenager on our farm she thought she wanted the city life. A few years in Ottawa at university changed her mind about that.

haahaa sum realy good jade hunting gold panning in northern BC and big moose too

ya, but we want to get out of BC.
hate the politics and all the areas I hunt in are gonna get pipelined sooner or later :(
also, while I can set my shop up for my work just about anywhere there is power and heat, my wife needs a community with a hospital for her to be happy pursuing her career.
not many town in BC fit the bill (that I would live in or near) other than where I am at right now.
over the past few years we have been jumping the hoops to try and migrate to Alaska but the process is not going as well as I had hoped. Yukon would be next best thing and still can explore Alaska on holidays ;)

The Yukon is #2 best place on earth in my eyes, my parents lived up there in the olden days. #2 is saying a lot too, it's just life and it won't be a BAD move, so why not try it! Can always shift gears again. At last count we've moved nine times since I met my wife, almost always between various northern locations. Don't regret it each place brought us something new.

So it looks like I will have to hunt up in Hinton this year poor me haahaa

Hey 45..........just ran into a couple more advantages for the Yukon.......health care is free, chronic disease meds can be free and seniors hunting and fishing licenses and tags are all free......none of which is free in B.C. (Bring. Cash.)

In the same boat myself... strongly considering it... so to answer your original question: probably.

Maybe for me not forever, but 2-5 years is my idea. Just seems so beautiful and a truly unique experience... and of course there is (probably) a better job there for me.

I came from small town Ontario as a kid, but have lived in large (Ottawa) or very large (Seoul Korea) the past 15 years... I'm so over big city life, I spend all the free time I have during the past 2-3 years getting away to the country, camping, fishing ectl. When I get out of the city I almost feel my blood pressure drop haha.

Ya that was my idea when I moved up there in '78, 5 years to hunt all the Yukon had to offer and then ...........35 years later and here I am just moved to better winters........It can be very addicting, especially the 24 hour daylight in the summer.....VERY addicting indeed. Also took up flying up there and that 24 hour daylight is a huge bonus for flying too.........

flying..... ahhh something I had all the doors open to me for when I was young..... silly me.
I grew up with the tales and photos of my dad's friends , the late Fred May a coastal bush pilot flying beavers and twin otters from a dock by the Vancouver airport and Doug Mcloud, a true north pilot living and flying out of resolute bay nwt. I did get to take the controls on a few local flights in the piper Cherokee ...... fun times.

Never too late, decent planes out there for the price of a pickup.

my Dad had his private pilots license and later got his commercial license. He always wanted a float plane and I know he dreamed of following that career. I feel bad for him in a way as he put all his dreams of that career on hold for a stable union job that kept him home and paid well enough to raise us 4 kids. I figured my younger brother would have taken up the wings , would come in handy for hunting and fishing adventures LOL
