Fortunately...firearms ownership....and shooting...particularily defensive and other practical disciplines have seen a huge resurgence and or genesis in the last 10 yrs. And better yet it has seemingly become a more "white collar" endeavour too.
I see a lot of shooters driving high end cars and dressed/conducting themselves a lot more like Drs/lawyers/engineers than the typical blue collarshooter stereotype.... showing up at ranges everywhere...and busting out AR's and other combat/defensive/practical hardware and gear.
This bodes well both from the numbers but more importantly from a demographic perspective. Politicians are malleable weak easily manipulated entities. They will take a lot of flak from the blue collar crowd before reacting/bending/succumbing .....they will exponentially respond to the white collar demographic who represent $$, influence and can articulate their case when it comes to policy/law and the very serious issue of confiscation and infringement of private rights and property.
This issue alone will make further intrusion by the Feds on firearms more difficult than in the past...more difficult I say..not unfeasible or impossible..or likely.
This aside....it's the same ole same ole....the hunters won't engage cuz their rifles aren't affected, the skeet/trap shooters won't engage cuz their OU's aren't affected, less so but also the bullseye shooters, varmint shooters etc......
Divided and easily conquered is the deal!
EVERYONE able to do so should procure at least an AR lower...even if it never sees the light of day...AND defend it vigorously from curtailment of it's possession/use to outright confiscation. Think of it as a $70 contribution to the NFA or other group.....
Divided we will lose...in solidarity we stand a chance.
I was literally aghast when, during the prohib pistol process, how many actual gun owners/shooters actually PROMOTED the prohib process! Some believing it would act as a sacrifice to the gods so that they wouldn't come for their "other" guns....others that fell in line with the mantra " short guns are for killing and crime" and have no "sporting purpose". It was entirely sobering and depressing to see how we divied ourselves up for the slaughter.
The conservatives have it right...re elect them and pressure them further in the direction of " individual accountability" for ones actions....no need for layered convoluted law and or policy or limitations on the free law abiding populace.....use existing laws with bolstered penalties to hold people accountable for their actions and aggressively prosecute violent/firearm related criminal activity. It's actually quite simple, inexpensive and effective.
