Best warranty (for Canadians) amongst the "tough optics?"

A friend of mine raves about Korth. He has sent ever single one of his leupolds in for repairs a minumum of 2-3 times( no B.S) but gets them back pronto. Personally I would never own a scope so unreliable. Glad I got rid of mine.

Koran repair Leupold 1" scopes in Canada but the LPS 30mm have to be sent to the US. To do that requires lots of permits and paper work on both sides of the border so in some cases it could take time, it isn't the fault of the manufacturers who are more or less forced to do batch shipping.

Sorry I'm not sure what your saying. The LPS scopes have been discontinued quite a while ago. Are you saying that Korth refused to help with warranty and made you send it back to the USA? I'm sorry I don't know what "batch shipping is". There are a few models of scopes that Korth is not equipped to work on but in the past have done the shipping from their point back to USA. Phil.

I sell almost every manufacturer of scopes (with a few exceptions). We sell a couple of thousand scopes a year and rarely see Leupold returned for any reason and that is usually the case with more expensive makes. The companies that make entry level models will see far more returned. This is just my experience but it does come from being in the industry for quite some time and seeing what products and companies have the most problems and how they deal with them. Phil.

Most of his are the upper end Leupolds but to be honest this guy just seems to break just about everything he touches. His Nightforce have held up well though.

Again I would be interested to hear what problems you are having with Korth because this has not been our experience. What have you done to complain to Korth about these problems? Phil.

Phil that is now 4 years ago. as working for a retailer i was questionned why i had Leupolds imported to be fixed but there tech (sorry but it was less expensive to buy in USA even with the import paper to buy for myself i was not selling those of course lol), there is one dot that they were not able to get the good kind of battery for it and others that seems ok for him but shooters were not getting the same results as the targets they were sending. so to me not fixed ...

im not more in that business but the conversations will it be with the tech or the rep never went far nor good. i know that the western rep changed and seems better but again no more my problem. i was hardcore Leupol user and seller not that much.

hope you get a better picture now, Phil.

Phil.

btw: Phil did you ever try to get the new FX2 3x fixed power? still wondering why there is need of at least 25 for Korth when you can get one sample frpm the custom shop ....

Leupold with Korth Group in Okotoks, AB for the Canada Warranty centre. I made a post on AO this evening with a HUGE - Shout Out to them!! They made my day/week !!!

Leupold stands behind their product. I use Leupold scopes on all my rifles and their binos as well for several years. I just got a new set today under warranty...and since my model (upper end) was no longer made (14-15 years old), I was given the new upgraded Mojave...I will test them out at moose camp this year !! This was my first ever warranty claim on a Leupold. Never an issue with their scopes on my end and some of my Leupold scopes are pushing 15-18 years old on larger caliber rifles, some are very new within the past 1-3 years (VX3's).

All of the riflescopes that I purchase have a warranty, but I certainly don't use warranty as the deciding factor in choosing a scope. I have owned dozens of scopes but the only ones that were defective from the factory were a Simmons, a Tasco, and two Leupolds. The Tasco displayed a shift in POI when the magnification was changed, the Simmons went blurry when the magnification was adjusted, and both Leupolds required both hands, and a great deal of effort to adjust the magnification. The Tasco came with a rifle that I purchased, and it was given away. The Simmons was sent in for warranty, and soon after it came back the problem reappeared, so it went in the garbage. The Leupolds were both sold. I sent one Swarovski scope and one Zeiss scope in for repairs due to damage that occurred in the field, and although neither was defective, both were repaired under warranty, at no charge to me. In each case, the scopes were returned a couple of months after being sent out.

I skimmed the thread and didn't see Vortex once.. That's their big selling point, I thought, their great warranty. I went with a Leupold for my first optic, but have been thinking of upgrading. Interesting thread.

I've sent stuff to korth, one Leopold scope returbpnrd in less than 2 weeks. I had a new leuopold 650 yard rangefinder that crapped out, they replaced it with the 750 yard model no questions asked, less than two weeks again. Korth is fantastic service and everyone I know who've dealt with them agrees.

This has been my own experience as well. Korth were fast and the service was very good.

One of my sons bought a Vortex Viper for a 300 WSM Tikka T3 and within a week the reticle virtually fell to pieces. He took it back to where he bought it and bought a Zeiss scope and still likes the Zeiss. No ideas on warranty work needed on either scope by other people but just a comment related to Vortex quality.

I've had good luck with Korth so far. No warranty work, but I've had the Wide Duplex reticle on two FXII 4x33's changed out for Heavy Duplex's, and in both cases, from the time of delivery to Korth to when they shipped was less than a week. I'm happy with them so far.

I don't buy a product that has a "warranty claim track record", I buy a product that doesn't have warranty claims.

Only had to send a leupold in once as it was not tracking right. Was back in 2 weeks. I will only buy leupold because with over 40 years of hunting they are what works best for me. I've researched vortex to death and from what I see will never own one. Each to his/her own though.
