308 vs 30-06

Sounds like a great choice for one that can not make up his choice, but then again I would go with the 8x57js.

Well... we are discussing .308 cal not .323 cal, so I was adhering to that criteria.

My reasoning for the .308 X 57 in the No.1-RSI is that it mates well with my .257 X 57 (Roberts) and .284 X 57 (Mauser)... it takes advantage of the plethora of .308 Cal bullets I have in the shop... and I have a spare 7X57 RSI begging for new shoes... this .308 X 57 version is 8X57 necked down to .308 with no other changes, but throated for 190-200 SP's... just so it does something different than the 7X57.

But I will admit that I waffled over doing a set of No.1-RSI's in 6X57 (Rem), 7X57 and 8X57 (JS)... I thought that would be pretty cool also.

Only reason to pick the 308 is if you want a Savage 99 (and who doesn't)

... Or a 308 Scout Steyr Canadian Ranger edition style... JP.:rockOn::rockOn::rockOn:

If you have never handle a Scout Steyr 308 it will be hard to explain, an example maybe best suited...

The Scout is a Porshe in a race of mixed cars, may not win the race but you handling a performer, it's pretty unique in the world of rifle, they become an addiction, this one is my third one...
And it's not finish... JP.

Hey caramel;
I had the opportunity to handle one the other day, and while I agree with much of your opinions, I have to say, I wasn't very impressed with the Steyr Scout... nice, but no better than a Sako. I wouldn't buy one, but that's just me.

If i execpt my green phosphate TR-22, ( and it's a safequeen )i do not own any other Sako rifles, i was never drawned to the Sako rifles, i am sure it's a great product, if those Canadian Sako Ranger rifle were the ones available, i would not have bought one...
Matter of taste, i imagine... JP.

The Canadian Ranger rifles are clearly a fine piece of kit. I'd spend several thousand to own one. I prefer the Tikka actions over Sako and Steyr.

I did spend several thousands + to own another Steyr...
This is like i said, personal choices are what they are, fair enough for me... JP.
