Guys,
I need some help finding a short lever action.... It should be something like a .357 Winchester 94 Trapper, but I'd prefer a 92 action. The gun will be for plinking only. No hunting (so doesnt need to be .44) and no CAS. The gun must have a round barrel and stock like a trapper not with a metal cap on the fore stock. Ideally no cross safety, I could live with it though. Tang safety is doable
Price point $700-$1000, so it rules out the super fancy italian replicas ...
I was looking at a Rossi 92 but for the $730 plus tax it sells for I still have to polish the action and loading gate and do whatnot tweaks, which either is a PITA or costly. The other option is a Winchester 94 Trapper which I can probably lift of the EE in mint condition for nearly the same cost and it wouldnt need any messing around but has the 94 action which isnt as good for pistol rounds. Could probably live with it as it seems they feed .357/.44 reliably ...
But I wonder if there are any other options? It seems Winchester Miroku makes a 92 but it has the long barrel and the wrong fore stock. Are there other options that are available here? Before I place an ad in the EE I want to know what to look for
Thanks
Matt
