I think a lot of folks find them ugly because they are simply different. If we stop and toss out our preconceived ideas of what a revolver is supposed to look like then the Rhino design takes on a more obvious sort of appearance based on the idea that a bottom shooting barrel has to have some sort of raised sight rail. Then factor in the goal of lowering the bore axis so it sits in line with the supporting hands and the whole gun makes more sense and the design takes on a new sort of look that isn't bound by our ideas of what a revolver SHOULD look like.
The first time I saw them I liked them because of all this. I don't have any issues with tossing my ideas of previous guns out and looking at it with a practical designer's eye. And that makes them look darn fine.
I just won't take a chance on it because it's a Chiappa. Never mind the online stories. Locally everyone I know that has bought any sort of Chiappa, including me, has had issues with them.
