Kicked the idea around for awhile in getting one of these; pulled the trigger :p a short while ago and now it's home to stay. Ugly tothermucker, but it's the kind of ugly that just draws you in LOL. Interesting gun to shoot with the little to zero muzzle flip and weird grip, but is surprisingly all works well together. Was a beach to track down a hoslter for it, but found one online at a small specialty shop in the U.S.

That's what I meant about them being so ugly looking you can't help but like it LOL. And yes Chiappa has had it's issuses, but the Rhino has been updated to fix some of it's earlier model quirks (locking trigger, inability to shoot with moonclips) and the workmanship in this one is very nice.

I think a lot of folks find them ugly because they are simply different. If we stop and toss out our preconceived ideas of what a revolver is supposed to look like then the Rhino design takes on a more obvious sort of appearance based on the idea that a bottom shooting barrel has to have some sort of raised sight rail. Then factor in the goal of lowering the bore axis so it sits in line with the supporting hands and the whole gun makes more sense and the design takes on a new sort of look that isn't bound by our ideas of what a revolver SHOULD look like.

The first time I saw them I liked them because of all this. I don't have any issues with tossing my ideas of previous guns out and looking at it with a practical designer's eye. And that makes them look darn fine.

I just won't take a chance on it because it's a Chiappa. Never mind the online stories. Locally everyone I know that has bought any sort of Chiappa, including me, has had issues with them.

It was the "looks" that first (dis)attracted my attention; then did some more research on them (including Chiappa issues in general) and decided I wanted one more than ever - it's a very unique pistol to shoot, but in a good way, with all the recoil straight back into your plam and arm with as mentioned, minimal barrel flip. The sights are very nice (and adj), and with the 6" barrel works better for my old(er) eyes. DA trigger is heavy, but SA is not bad at all and very happy with the way it shoots I have to say again.

it is an innovative design for sure. here is a great link with some of Emilio Ghisoni's other ideas. pretty cool

Thanks for the link!

I have a Chiappa M1 clone that shoots and functions like a hot damned. Pity that it's 85% plastic. That was disappointing.

Chiappa 22cal hand guns (1911, Beretta clone, etc) are to be avoided.

I would try a Rhino if they weren't so darned expensive.

My god
How does the hammer work?

You pull the trigger...magic happens...and the gun goes bang! :D It's a false hammer that fires the real one through internal linkages - works both DA and SA.

I got the price locked in before the dollar took it's latest hit (999 $Can + shipping and tax).

I too like the concept ... I've shot a lot of trap and it's the same idea why you shoot the bottom barrel of your O/U first in doubles ... and many of us shoot the bottom barrel in single target events too.

I really jealous right now! I ordered the same one.

May I ask where you got that holster and do they offer leather ones?

Thanks

Only one I could find in stock anywhere was a US company (Google Reapercamo); they have kydex and leather holsters for the Rhino.
