ATRS Modern hunter specs, pics and range reports

Any one know the price on the carbon fibre barrels?

A carbon fiber barrel is $975 more than a stainless steel match grade barrel. If one were to be ordered as a barrel alone, for example for a bolt action build, they are $1700. Not inexpensive at all, but they are incredible for saving weight but retaining the benefits of a heavy contour and then some.

Call me Princess but i think they look awesome too!

First off, big thanks to Rick and the guys at ATRS for helping me out of a jam. Really went above and beyond, great guys to deal with!

First trip in a while to the range, finally found some Federal Gold Medal to feed it. Currently having a friend help me (re do all the work) develop a load for it, but just getting some trigger time in between with something as a baseline. Overall fairly pleased, especially considering how #### I was shooting the last few visits. The shooter is 100% to blame for the horrible groups, my total round count on anything larger than .223 is in the double digits, so it'll get there.

3 rounds slightly over means I can claim sub-moa gun now right? Those are actually all groups of 10 with a lot of rounds touching, ruler slightly undersized. *#2 is actually two touching*

Finally got my sling stud installed as well. The adapter from harris wasn't working out too well for me, so improvised with a nut plate from work.

Got this guy with my MH last night. I've been bowhunting a spot where the owner was having some bear problems so took the rifle with as well. Bear came out shortly before dark, one shot at 140yds, dropped on the spot. Also an update on my load development, five round group shot at 100 yards 90gr scenar and 45gr. of H4831sc. This is the load I will using for my hunting this year.

First off reading this thread is making me need meds to go to bed. My MH is on a delivery truck as we speak. I should be seeing it one day next week. I got mine with the same hand guard. Can you give me a detailed play by play on how you installed that sling stud. I too want it for a bipod. Any issues with flexing or bending? Can it handle the bipod when firing?

How did you do this? What size hole did you need to drill? Did you have to thread it as well?

Ps I read this thread and the other one. ATRS you must have slept with a lot of people's wives or something lol I can't understand all the hate. From the classification to the accuracy. What the hell is wrong with these people? I never really liked the Swiss arms owners anyways.... Lol

I was debating just buying a different hand guard, one with rails. But if I can save a few hundred dollars and just make some holes I'm good with that too.

Little bit of ingenuity and effort, isn't hard to mount. For mine you simply need access to the fasteners and tools to rivet, a rail would go on similarly but with more than one attaching screw making it likely more sturdy.

Ahhh yes I have a hand rivet tool. Suppose I could just use that. I'll see what happens when she arrives. I can't wait anymore. I can't even focus on the turkey with this gun coming

I don't understand the hate either, but there certainly are a few green eyed monster trolls out there. As for wives, nope same 1 for almost 40 years. Believe me 1 is ENOUGH!!

8x32 machine screws and nuts would be my choice. Get a piece of rail mark the holes and drill them. These handguards are plenty structural enough to handle a bipod. Just make sure to not allow either screw shank or rivet body to touch the gas block or barrel, it WILL mess with accuracy.
The DPMS handguards spin off the gun quite easily, so my suggestion is to mark the tube then take it off the gun to do the work.
I agree wirth ^mt that a rail would work better than just a stud.

8x32 screws are not overly strong in shear and you would have to have shaped washers and beveled nuts for inside radius of
Hand guard- that riv-nut is aviation quality part and rivets are av pieces as well!
