ATRS Modern hunter specs, pics and range reports

Geebus some very fine looking rifles in this thread. Making it very hard to resist at this point. Hell, seems my friends are doing it, I might as well jump over the edge as well ;)

I sent a email as ATRS asked me to do I order to get the Price quote on them making me 2 complete uppers one 308 20"carbon fiber barrel
The other a 338fed 18.6 light barrel for moose next year

If only somehow they could have one MH lower that could take 223 / 308 / 338 lapua uppers.. could you imagine lol!!! I would have so much empty space in my safes

Yup I have been thinking that myself. If only I could get my Kenworth T600 to have the same fuel economy of a Smart car, then coupled speed and agility that I get from my BMW, but still retain the pulling power of the Kenworth, have the repair costs of a VW Beetle and include the off road capability of an H1 Hummer, the world would be perfect.

Awesome! looks like I need to make some calls. What's the time frame on complete uppers rick? After the last run is completed?

We made more uppers than lowers on purpose, so that we could deal with this eventuality. Timeframe will be totally dependent on availability of barrels and furniture.
Email us with your preferred calibers, and parts and we can better guestimate delivery.

^ nice, all your posts made me itch for a second upper to, so I ordered a 338 yesterday as well. Going to match my other one in .243, should be a killer combo.

My upper order is in fore the 338fed will be a interesting com next moose season
I shave as much weight as possible so went with a light barrel 18.6" painted black ,ATRS brake, and a set off steel flip up sights !
I'm going to just run with Iron sights to keep the package light and simple
This year I have to live with my Modern Hunter in 6.5 CM HAAHAA

I'm having trouble picking a scope for 6.5 creedmoor it ment to be my Alberta farm rifle
The 338fed will be just Iron sights and possibly a reflex sight or low powered scope for the bush

6.55 X 55 for this rifle seems a bit strange to me. I have a 6.55 X 55 sako but why would you not go with the 260 for a semi auto action? Its like a 6.55 improved for semi auto..

This rifle is not offered in 6.5x55... and most likely will not be. .. I mentioned it a while back ... but only reason I would like that is because I own a bunch of 6.5x55 rifles so I always have an abundant supply. .. plus lapua makes it so it's easy to get good stuff.

BTW are you guys making the third batch yet???

Finally got to take mine out today. Put 85 rounds of various ammo through it before the rain started. Took all of 8 rounds of AE to get it rough sited at 100. Wouldn't have taken that many, but I forgot to treat it like an AR, and bore site the upper. The AE didn't impress me with accuracy, but I know that's what they use to test fire the rifle, and it's cheap to rough site with. Next I decided to try some Winchester 150gr PowerMax. First three rounds went into pretty much one enlarged hole. Then I screwed it up cause I got all excited and pulled the next 2 rounds. I wanted to try the Winchester cause my M-305 seems to really like it, and let's face it it's cheap. I still think that it's got potential for a good hunting round, even though it's not "Match" ammo. Tried some 150gr and 165gr Hornady SST hand loads. I kept getting those 3 round groups, and can't get the fourth and fifth to go where I want them to. I can't blame the gun for my inadequacies. Hopefully as the gun gets broke in, and I get used to the scope, trigger, etc. they'll get better and tighten up.
