Colt Canada IUR 15.7 PREMIUM CARBINE

Yup. Police issued C8A2s run the hybrid bcg. Hundreds of thousands of rounds and no issues.

Of course, given the sa15.7 and SA20s are semi auto, they hybrid bcg is truer to the original semi auto issued c8s than one with a fa bcg. For those that want authenticity.

The hybrids are far from being "unknown" in their reliability.

There is no such thing as a "hybrid" carrier. The original design for an AR15 Sporter from Colt's utilized the same "early" semi carrier that was submitted to the Treasury Department for approval in 1963 for the model R6000. This version was chosen by Diemaco for LE Semi-Auto only rifles because they were the simplest option, and drawings and part numbers already existed. They are manufactured from standard carriers on the same line as all military components. They have absolutely no effect on the function or durability of the rifles - the only difference is they will not trip an auto sear. This was chosen for the SA models because there was already a Semi auto part number.

Someone should go and find the few grams of metal machined off, because it seems to be worth more than its weight in gold - for no reason that has any basis in reality.

The later changes to semi-auto carriers were all as a result of changing US legal requirements over decades and were copied by numerous commercial imitators through the years.

Actually I wrote there are in fact no odds to play when running CC kit (it was Fenceline that mentioned "if I were to play the odds"... if only in jest I think) and I would say the same for HK as well (with regard to the MR223 you speak of or any of HK's products just like CC, both these companies are at the pinnacle of military small arms design...).

Because I believe these companies produce superior quality firearms/systems parts and like anything they produce, nothing leaves the factory w/o being thoroughly tested and proven.
By that I mean nothing is offered w/o being throughly tested to a standard that goes well beyond what 99.99% of CGN shooters will put a restricted rifle through in Canada.

Also (IMO) it's fair to say that CC doesn't offer anything that isn't better then mil-spec. (as CC has made over 100 hundred improvements over USA mil-spec which many would consider the basic standard to judge from) and (IMO) believe their semi. BCG's are to that same standard and quality as the F/A BCG's.

I say this knowing that our LEO's are putting their lives on the line running these very same semi. BCG's that come on the CC SA rifles in their issued CC rifles; so I highly doubt CC would cut corners in either their development or design/testing (and HK likely is the same with any of their civilian/LEO products).

BTW congrats on the SA20 prize, must have been an exciting moment and with your IUR purchase you know have a very sweet set-up.

Cheers D

That's new information for me. I didn't know this hybrid/semi auto bcg were used in the leo line of the guns.

That does make things better for me.

And thank you I'm quite happy with that rig. Works quite well.

Lol, so much debate over the details. For me, I chalk it up to my OCD as a completist. I bought an SA20 under the IOP because I wanted a clone of rack #47, my work C7A2, so I could practice on my own time (be lucky to see the range once, maybe twice a year on the company dime). Then I thought to myself, wtf, why am I shelling out $1,500 plus tax of my own dough to practice on my own time using my own ammo (which may not even be as good as the work stuff), on top of that, getting glass that matches the work one? After I bought it, I decided fuk it, I'll just wait that once or twice a year to go to Volks with the unit and abuse rack #47 instead of my personal rifle. Besides I've got plenty of other ARs to shoot, may as well keep this one as good as NIB, maybe pass it on to the kid someday when he's old enough. That led to my SA20 becoming my one and only safe queen that is still unfired (I know, it's retarded to have a firearm not used). Well, at least that is my humble interpretation of my particular mental malfunction that's keeping me from taking her out to shoot.

Since I bought my SA20 though, I've been slowly collecting and piecing together little odds and ends that weren't included with the rifle from Colt Canada. Bought the the triad rail for my SA20 despite loathing it on my C7......bought an Elcan C79 and was even persuaded to buy a green condom for it.....someone offered me the little ambi mag release, even though I have never untilized its function on my C7.....bought the Cadex folding grip off Patrice, though the QM decided to remove them off our entire compliment of C7A2s at the unit. I'm not a fan of the "claw" (gets tangled in the vest etc), nor do I care if the BCG is functionally a f/a or hybrid version since my SA20 will never be milled out for f/a....BUT, the OCD in me wants these items, and wishes our SA20s came with them in the first place, to be that near-perfect clone of the C7A2.

Does this make sense to most people here? Probably not, lol! For me, there's no logical rhyme or reason to wish to obtain these items and covet them, but some of us, we just do for some strange reason.

We've got a link in our forum for purchases, but hopefully this helps people who where confused over what previous variants came with, and what the new boxes received include.

This!

Nothing against any of the board-supporting vendors whatsoever - you can only play the hand you're dealt. That, or you don't play the game. Colt Canada's civilian sales team, on the other hand, ought to be utterly ashamed of the way they have repeatedly duped enthusiasts in order to move excess production. People paid a premium in the reasonable expectation that the IURs would hold their value, only to be undercut by the manufacturer after the fact. Or were told that no Bolt Carrier Groups would be forthcoming...only to have them appear after the fact. The fact is that Colt Canada has screwed is own customer base over repeatedly. Sadly, there will be no repercussions for CC now that the MRR is on the market representing the next big gulp of CC Koolaid....
