I averaged 1430fps using 180gr bullet and Blue Dot in my 6" 1911 with a 25lb recoil spring.
A 6" 1911 is the perfect platform for 10mm imo.
11.0 gr. Blue Dot with a 180 gr. Gold Dot in my G20SF makes me happy!
Most modern, all steel, fully heat treated 1911's will handle 10mm just fine.
Why powder coating? Looks cool (kinda like little lip sticks) but doesn't the powder coat foul up the rifling?
