Me too...I was sitting on the website Sunday night flip-flopping on whether I should get one or continue with my AR10 build. The FN-FNAR won out. There are enough AR10 rifles out there anyway if I really want one at a later date.

It's just like when the 14.5 inch Mossberg 590a1 shotguns came in. Grab them when you can.

I needed a hunting rifle so an AR10 was outta the question. This gun just offers too much.

I can't help myself, "DID THEY COME IN TODAY SANTA?!?"

Just talked to Gary - he said they are clearing customs now and should be shipping by Wednesday. This is the FIRST batch that is shipping. I will be posting pics as soon as it's in my grubby hands!

If you guys can bring an FNAR-L in for this price I would be in.

After researching on FN's main product info. site it appears the only difference between a light barrel (which FN calls the FNAR's Standard rifle=16" barrel, Competition rifle=20" barrel in blue non-pistol grip stock and Heavy=20" barrel and is the one listed here for sale) and the heavy barrel is that the light barrel is a 16" barrelled rifle.

So that 16" "LIGHT BARREL" would make it a restricted rifle under Canadian firearms laws, which is something I'd rather not have compared to owning a non-restricted 20" rifle thats about a pound heavier (light 16" barrelled rifle is listed at 8.125Lbs., Competition version 20" rifle at 8.9Lbs. and strangely enough no listing for the Heavy 20" rifle on the FN site, which I estimate to be approximately 9Lbs.).

Definitely not a lightweight especially compared to .223 Ar's, but for a .308 semi. 9lbs. isn't way off the mark and the extra weight will help with recoil at least.

Damn it's not that I don't want one, it's that I want at least three new rifles right now, but can only afford one and can't decide which one to buy as they are all in limited supply making the purchase of any one more difficult and of course there's the restricted versus Non-restricted aspect too, not to mention the step up to the considerably more expensive to shoot .308 calibre ammo.

I suppose though if my/our biggest problem is deciding which new rifle to buy, life isn't so bad.;)

Cheers & Merry Christmas D

From my own research, the Standard appears to be available in both 16" and 20" versions, with about a pound in differences between the 20" Standard and 20" Heavy. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FN_FNAR) ... Having just ordered a 20" Standard from another dealer on this site, I hope that this is what I will receive. As for ammo, other people here have had good results with the Austrian surplus 7.62 NATO.

Yeah, you and me are on the same page - that is same rifle I am looking at.

That's good to know, I had thought that it may have been possible to get a 20" light, but had no luck clarifying on the FN site.

Cheers D

Just had a visit from Canada Post. It comes with a 5/20 mag, looks like it was riveted for 10rounds then dimpled for 5 but only holds 4 rounds. I think someone messed the dimple job up. The fit is really tight but the 5 rounders drop free. The trigger has a consistent 4 pound break. Thanks Wanstalls!
