Grumpy Wolverine covers up a UTAS UTS-15 fail!

I've spent a $h!t load of cash at Wolverines over the years, and all I expect is an honest unbiased point of view. I know stating in a video that a product is very good but still needs work, is a sales "No no", but then maybe it's also not a great idea to paint an unrealistic picture of the truth. Saying it's much improved is a fair statement but that's about it. That being said, It's my opinion that there are still a few minor issues that need to be worked out before calling it "all good". As a long time customer, I keep going to Wolverine's for most of my firearm purchases because I always trusted their opinion. Unfortunately, this has affected my respect some.

I've shot the Gen 1 and Gen 2 (never shot a Gen 3) and I can say that the Gen 4 is much improved over those two models but based on my experience with the Gen4 (240+ federal shells through it). It is a very fun gun, but I certainly wouldn't trust this gun for anything that needs 100% reliability.
 
I didn't even see post #37 before I bought one... I've read a crap load of bad press about the UTS-15, but for $750, I'll form my own opinion... just anxious to have it delivered into my mitts, and take it to the range to make some noise.

If it looks like form is more important than function then it probably is...you want to look cool, buy one of these, you want perfect functioning I'd suggest the pump guns that have a proven record over decades are the way to go, and you'll save some cash to boot.

No offence to the meant fellow curmudgeon as I expect to have the odd problem with a gun of that type, and as you stated the ammo was causing problems. Just like it does with my Remington, off brand shells full power shells cycle like ####...prob. better to present a thread like this in the form of a question than an accusation. There's too many variables to jump to the conclusion that dishonesty is involved.

I would agree with you completely. My personal benelli and Winchesters has issues with certain ammo (they don't work well with the fiocchi)...no gun is fool proof. We've never tooted these shotguns as the complete replacement for other shotguns, they are a lot of fun and lots of uses, but they aren't for everyone.
 
Grumpy's explanation are his words... Do i buy it? Not really, but that's my opinion.

It may have been caused by inferior quality shells, but when the gun jammed, he could have simply stated that fact, but instead he covers it up and states that 's all good... kind of shady in my opinion. Stating after the fact that it was due to poor quality shells makes sense but doesn't explain his decision to literally cover up the failure during the video. I get that they are in sales and posting a video of a gun malfunctioning especially given the history of this firearm in online reviews is not aligned with the manufacturer when they are the largest importer for North America and only importer for Canada. They could have re-shot the video another time or however many times it would have taken to get a clean run.

Only Grumpy knows what was really going on and why he chose to put his left hand over the failure and carry on like nothing happened. My opinion is nothing personal with Grumpy. To me it looked dishonest and like a cover up. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I showed the video to my buddy yesterday and we just laughed, so I guess if nothing else it's a source of comic relief.

So why you making a big deal about it them if nothing else a source of comic relief? Since you just basically joined here in a vendetta against this video and mainly all your posts are against this. Guess I wont get to know you because guess wont be here for long.
 
I bought a UTAS shotgun from Wolverine. It is, I believe, a Gen 3. I had an issue with the rail which Wolverine replaced without question and quickly. In terms of function, this shotgun delivers. I have used buckshot, slugs, and target loads without issue. We shot some skeet for fun this Christmas and, with an Eotech mounted, I was 9 for 10 on the clays. My son was 8/10. It's quite accurate with slugs as well. Just for a test, I loaded up 15 rounds with some really old hunting shells of different manufacture and shot size as well as buckshot in random order. It shot all but the last one w/o issue. The last one stuck in the breech when ejecting, I think because it was a paper shell and it was somewhat swollen. Not the gun's fault. Here is a video of it from last Christmas shooting at steel plates. There may have been issues with the UTAS in the past but I find mine to be very reliable. Reflecting on all my dealings with Wolverine over the years, I don't think anyone there is trying deliberately deceive anyone. I don't regret buying this shotgun and plan on using it at the Redneck shoot in Lone Butte in July.

I don't expect anyone to share my opinion. Everyone is entitled to their own. I've said my peace and Grumpy has explained himself. This thread is dead!
 
Nothing against grumpy but if your gonna do a video review on a product you want to sell, then why use crappy ammo? Id want the gun to perform at its best on video so i would use good ammo to avoid that affecting the results.

As I said in my previous post in this thread, that section was meant to be removed. We had this ammo come in and tried it in the shotgun, it didn't like it. Shot a second ending, it didn't get edited in. It was a mistake plain and simple.

Would be great ammo for a double or over under, it just seems to have some issues in the UTAS and a few other pump and auto shotguns. I plan to use it pheasant hunting next fall.

gunnutz007.......hmmmmmm....does that indentify this fellow as a "spy" or perhaps a freudian slip.....someone brand new to the site who just happens to dig up BS on one of the most respected firearms retailers and one of the most steadfast supporters of firearms ownership in this country? and oh wait almost all his posts deal with that subject...sniff sniff, um do I smell multiple accounts....seems that IF mr 007 is someone with another account and title on here he should have the stones to post this under his real identity and if he is a FNG....how can a put this in the nicest terms....um have some respect....wolverine is a 100% GREAT outfit.....John we Love you man....
 
This issue should be kept personal, an individual will do with this what he judge fine for him... JP.
 
Turkish engineering, what do you expect. If I want something made in Turkey, I will buy a rug.

On a separate note, I like Wolverine Supplies. They are always a pleasure to deal with. They are one of the best, if not the best, gun dealers in Canada. However, they are still a business. If you treat their "product reviews" as anything other than advertisements, you are naive. The guy even admits that he was going to edit out the malfunction footage and just keep the part where he says that the gun works great.
