Whats a good but cheap ( I know oxy moron ) SHTF shotgun, Something I barely will use it but just want one to have shotgun?

Something I could put a side saddle and maybe a folding stock. I might shoot a box a year thru it.

Would a Mavrick 88 18" cylinder bore fill this void or pay a little more for a 870?

Dominion Arms Outlaw. $300.

Lock the briefcase (marked with a sticker that says "arme a feu"), put it behind the seat of your truck and cover it with a blanket and it is legally stored.

I had one ( Single break barrel ) wasn't bad great with rifled inserts to shoot sub cal. But I want a pump.

If you want a pump the Mexican mossberg (maverick 88) is a fine choice. I love mine.

Corwin sells a lot of very nicely priced shotguns, especially if you want a single shot.

Hard to beat a Mav 88 Security 18.5" in 'bang for the buck'. $259 at WSS, currently sold out though. Folding stock would cost extra though.

My buddy has a maverick 88 and he loves the damn thing. Goes boom all the time and has been reliable for him.

When they restock it'll likely be more like $330... still not a bad price though. They go bang every time, parts and accessories are easy to get (they use most of the same parts as a 500) and they are easy to disassemble. What's not to like.

If you are storing and not using very much, make sure to oil it up (Mav88)... These can rust on you, especially if you live in a humid climate like me.

I'd get a tube fed 8.5" or 12.5" dominion arms grizzly, my wife has the 12.5" and it's great. I have the 12.5" mag fed version, I prefer the extra capacity the mag offers and it's going to be my truck gun when I leave the city for good. 30" OAL collapsed.

Didn't the Mav 88/Mossy have that 10rd drum magazine/mag conversion that came out a little while ago? Unsure if they were junk or not, haven't heard much about them lately.

Another vote for the Maverick 88 love mine
have a 18.5 bore barrel , and 28 inch vent barrel with chokes
have the pistol grip and the full stock , ready to dress for all occasions
Great fun

any of these suggestions are great, OP. Personally I'd go with a break open single or double barrel, 12-20" or so. Get some quality sub caliber inserts and you have something incredibly versatile from 12G boomstick to pistol caliber gun to black powder muzzleloader shooting rocks if you had to at 25 yds or less. more with slugs of course.

There's a cheap Mav 88 on EE for $150 right now.

There's 2 of them, both look to be beat up rust buckets. That's what you do with a Mav 88, beat the sh!t out of it and it still works (before they rust out like an 80's Toyota). Here's one from the EE, with a pic. Blueing loss, rusty and no bead for $150. Look at the dirt in that corncob...
