Cheap SHTF, barely will use truck shotgun.

It's also just manufacturing spooge. Mine had it everywhere and cleaned off with solvent.

Uh,no.It's not "spooge" it's rust.I bought a Mossberg a few years ago with the same issue.I noticed it in the store and picked out one with the least rust in the barrel. That crap wouldn't come out with a mop or bronze brush so I had to hone the barrel myself.Awesome shotguns but the folks at Mossberg needs to polish or spray some oil in the finished products.Anything to save a buck I guess?

Take a look around, find an old Wingmaster (should cost about $250) if the barrel is too long, you can either chop it to 18, or switch it for a Chinese one. Price is not subject to the tail spinning dollar, the gun is probably better than you'll get anywhere else (at any price) and it's an 870, meaning if you want a part you can get it. Or get a Grizzly, cheap, tough, works, 870 parts.

Just bought one about a month ago covered in the brown greasy stuff, looked 100% the same, came right off with some brake kleen. I tried cycling one for ####s and gigs before clearing it out and it felt, cycled and looked like ####. It runs excellent know. If there was that much rust I'm sure there be lots of pitting no?

Whats the best folder for comfort and well stability?

ATI top folder kinda looks like it could be not that pleasant to shoot. Not that much fan of M4 stocks.

For those who say I need a single shot for adapters, I got a old H&R 48 20ga.

Nope. That's rust.

Also, kind of hard to see in the pic, but it had some extremely rough tooling marks in the chamber.

Luckily the store I bought it from took it back.

Yes, some Mossy's and 870's I've seen on the forum, have had rust issues - BNIB. If these aren't stored properly or are stored bone dry (no lube) from the factory/distributor/dealer, they'll rust.

I had a Mossy 500 start some surface rust when I left it in a locked closet... the humidity here will rust it like crazy. The surface rust all came off with some gun oil and some scrubbing.

I have those little moisture packet deals all over my safe and inside my closet, never had a problem since. Get rid of your humidity, get some airflow and oil up your guns.

Mav 88's are dirt cheap, great bang for the buck Truck Shotgun. Buy an ugly but functional 88, kylon it and oil it. It'll work. There are 2 of them on the EE right now for $150.

Hatsan Escort was $300 last time I saw one

7+1 IIRC so a bit better capacity than the rest of the stuff listed here

That's a sharp looking unit. I wonder how well it compares to a Remington 870 Marine Magnum? I am assuming the receiver is aluminum and not steel?

I dunno how I missed that Asil Bulldog from Corwin-Arms..... ordering a 12ga one tonight with 13" barrel to run it through its paces.... thanks for a heads up on that puppy...

Got one of those ordered also! 4+1 makes it a nice "bear defense" option. but for a better all around SHTF, I would get the 18.5" one with 6+1 rounds mag. I like the choke option on all of these, especially on a shorty like the one I ordered, checkered protruding choke grips for easy swap.

Also, I got a Mossberg 500 combo at Cabelas in Edmonton in 2014. 2 barrels (28" ribbed and 18.5 cylinder bore) for $325...that combo is much more expansive right now at $450+

Considering the MM is just a hard-chromed version of the Express Tactical, I would agree, but only because Remington charges an extra $450 for a hard chrome finish. Which is highway robbery.

Unless they have changed very recently...the 870 Marine Magnum features an electroless nickel plate finish and NOT hard chrome finish!

I don't consider my Marine Magnum to be "pretty", but hideous? I don't think so. It's also the most reliable and durable gun in my locker. I didn't know they're $1000 these days. I paid $643.70 (tax in) for mine in 2011. MIM extractor still intact. My spare $14 forged "police" extractor is still sitting in my display case. :)
