VZ58 in AK furniture

I received a bunch of much needed components from the Czech Republic for my VZ/AKM build 2 weeks ago..., finally found a very nice bakelite grip from a local CGN'er, bought a 6 x 110mm metric hex head bolt for mounting the grip, and some proper stain. Bought an old beat up buttplate from the Thorncliffe gunshow.... everything is slowly coming together, Hopefully i'll be able to make decent progress this weekend if its warm outside (no heated garage).

Glad to hear you found a grip! I ordered a few of them, but it looks like they screwed up my order and sent AR grips instead.

The rest of my AK conversion is on standby until the Type 81s hit Canada.. there's a 50-50 chance the pictures I sent you will work better on it (Depending on the model we get).

Pull the lever away from the butt, slide it off of the buffer tube. Loosen the castle nut - an armorers wrench and penetrating lube suggested. They can be on there very tight. I removed mine with channel locks and rubber belting, and still damaged the castle nut. Once its loose, you should be able to spin off the buffer tube. The last piece to the AR style stock is an adapter bolted to the receiver, just unscrew the bolt.
