interesting now somebody need to find out if AK Furniture will fit on the type 81, i have been waiting for a long time about those to come on the market

That's pretty disappointing.

I wouldn't pay anything over $700 CDN landed here, and I would expect the exact same blued finish and furniture that you get on the military made rifles, not even up for debate.

If the Chinese want the business, they're going to have to try a little harder.

Yes. When companies were discussing way back from 3-4 years ago, "they" said they would "like to", and "try to" keep it around the original discussed price. Which I think they did.

So we're supposed to be happy with something negotiated 4 years ago at the current CDN peso?

Feelings are up the individual. Personally I thought it would be more expensive.

This is not a surplus gun. It's a new build. From scratch basically. Either you like it, or you don't. I personally do, and think it will be great.

Sounds like they took the hype, jacked the price, and cheaped out in spots. I hope the next importer does better. Just like the first Norc ARs were painted before someone else demanded better quality. Additional mags iffy?

For $1000 me thinks most of you want the world delivered on a silver platter. Its cheaper than a VZ and currently the closest thing to an AK that doesn't cost an arm, a leg, your shirt and a vigorous groping. I'll probably put a preorder in.

At a first glance I'm not too keen on the grey parkerized finish, but I'll reserve judgment until the production models start surfacing. I think the more traditional-looking wood furniture will help as well. That being said, the prospects of a 5.45x39 model is very interesting...

The info sheet in the back ground had a price of $899

No. I wish ;), but Its $999.
