Shorten PAL Approval Times

Hey fellas, I need some advice.
my first time pal/rpal application was received Nov 23rd in Mirimichi, they processed it and sent to my Alberta cfo office just before Christmas, now has been sitting ever since. I checked yes to the personal history question about medication and included a note from my doctor with his blessing to purchase firearms ( I was on a mild anti-depressant for a short time for generalized anxiety a few years back.) I have tried calling the Alberta cfo office a few times and keep getting the run-around. They keep saying they complete applications in the order they receive them and that my application is on "hold" due to the fact that I checked yes. I've asked to speak to the officer in charge of my application and they flat out refuse to transfer my call. I would think that if they wanted to look into my history more, that the least they would do is call me directly. I have zero criminal history or otherwise, never a job-loss, with the same woman for several years. The wife says I should just stop calling but after 4 months and not even a phone call I'm starting to lose hope. Any insight would be appreciated.

^ have you tried asking them if having your doctor call them might help?

I could, but they keep acting as if they haven't even gotten to looking at my application yet. I imagine trying to get my doctor to get through to the cfo would be a nightmare haha. I specifically included a doctors note to be proactive and avoid jumping through too many hoops.

Think maybe it has something to do with mild antidepressant? What else could it be.

Yes, most likely. which is why I included the doctors not explaining that. I just expected they would call me if they were interested in looking into me more.

On the site it says check your status , that goes to a online partner . Ie banks credit cards , talks about payment .??. What do you do at that point ??
Or am I just missing something in the process .. Thanks

At that point, click on the icon of the bank, credit card , or financial institution you deal with, enter your card number and password, and it will redirect you back to the RCMP secure website

45 days on the nose, I called the BC CfO to see what was going on with my upgrade from Pal to Rpal, talked to a very helpful fellow named Scott, who put me on hold while he reviewed and approved my licence, and it's on it's way, every once in a while you get someone who doesn't mind doing their job,,,,it's a good day :)

PAL just arrived in the mail today. 38 days from dropping the application off at the post office to opening the envelope from the RCMP. I'm still surprised it went so smooth.

wow that is a huge buzzkill. November 23 and its now March 17. I would try contacting your local police department and get transfered to the firearms officer of that department. They are the ones who deal with over-viewing the licences once rcmp mails me away.

Okay thanks, I thought the officers were based out of the Edmonton downtown branch. I will contact my local RCMP office.

For all you Alberta folks here is my RPAL timeline:
Application received - Feb 1 2016
I called CFC March 9 2016 - application all good get a reference to call. Reference called same day.
Called March 14 2016 - Sent to CFO for Approval march 11 2016
still waiting as of today... 7 weeks in (46 days) and counting

It seems like us Alberta boys are slow on the approvals these days.

Ok . I got thru , mailed feb 3 rd , received feb 10 th . Initail stuff done . Now being processed . Thanks for the help guys ..

Is there any indication on how long it usually takes once the application gets send off to the CFO? I'm in Ontario

Here's my time line for Ontario:

CFSC/CRFSC Jan 21/22
Received test results from CFO February 8th
Couriered to Miramichi Feb 9th received at Miramichi Feb 10th
Shown on line February 29th (19 days)
Credit card billed March 2nd
Sent to CFO March 2nd
Licence approved March 9th (28 Days)
Licence card received March 17th.

I called in as soon as it went on line. Had one of my reference call that day. No other interviews. Called the CFO when it showed licence issued on line. They had no problem giving me my licence number. Was able to register with a gun club with the number.

I'm wondering the Alberta CFO is slower than some of the other provinces. I hear you guys getting approved right after the 28 days, I am well over 28 days now and still in progress.
I think there may be an influx of Albertan's applying, since I took my PAL course I have talked to a lot of folks who said they are getting their PAL/RPAL before Trudeau takes the guns away from us.
I guess us rednecks in Alberta don't trust Trudeau, just can't understand why that would be. LOL

So I will impatiently keep waiting for my approval from the CFO.

ps:Trudeua had nothing to do with me wanting to get my PAL.
