I agree the double standards needs to stop
Status Indians should be allowed to own fee simple property.
Handouts needs to stop too
We need to stop giving Native land to foreign companies to engage in primary resource extraction.
Are you guys aware you are talking to a member of the Haida FN (carverk). A group that never surrendered to anyone or signed anything; just like the majority of FN's in BC who never signed a treaty? Not to mention a group that engages in a lot of self government.
Complaining about culturally specific punishments in BC is complaining about groups that never signed in not following "rules" from a racist antiquated piece of legislation they never even entered into!
FN's in BC are not FN's in Saskatchewan or Ontario; that is like me saying I'm a Slav because of my Swiss passport...

Haroon Siddiqui said:“permanent nation-to-nation agreements” are what made Canada possible on the triangular foundation of aboriginals, Francophones and Anglophones. The indigenous peoples gave massive tracts of lands in return for a permanent partnership of equals.
Yet “we pretend that we do not have partnership obligations. We criticize. We insult. We complain. We weasel: Surely, these handouts have gone on long enough. But the most important handout was to us. ”
