Well Boys, Just Bought Me a Desert Bighorn Hunt.

In all reality though it is between my two 30 cals...

IMO... take the one with the most field experience... nothing inspires more confidence than having "been there, done that..." and confidence is worth its weight in gold... so to speak.

On the fence on this....... Having a rifle with some memories is always nice..... But if you never take a girl to the dance, you will never know if she puts out afterwards...... :) ..... There is a lot of time between now and February..... Knowing where Douglas lives and the opportunity, I would be hunting the hell out of that ti between now and then......

Take the Ti 300WSM. You built it for this. It's light, it's more than enough cartridge, it's light, and, as you said, you built it for this very thing. It HAS proven itself, it goes bang when you pull the freedom switch. Trajectory is the same as "old faithful" as well.

Gonna have to do some more shooting with the "skinny one" and see how I like it. So far so good but really, less than 100 rounds through it.........the other problem is the lack of components. If I shoot up all my 150 TTSXs I'm not sure I will be able to get more for the hunt. I know, I know, shoot some other 150 that I have lots of and save the 150 TTSXs, however I am kinda OCD that way and really only like to practice with the actual load I use in that rifle. That way if there is some anomaly that is going to show up every now and then, I should be able to catch it at the range and not on an expensive hunt.
I just checked my supply and I have 183 loaded but only 20 more bullets to load.......that's not a lot of shooting to wring out a rifle over a summer and fall. Anybody got a 1/2 doz boxes of 30 cal 150 TTSXs they would part with, or know somebody who does or maybe a store?????? I do have 100s maybe even 1000 other 150 30 cals but like I said before it ain't the same.........especially subbing a C+C bullet for a homogenous one..........HHHMMMMMMMMMMM.........just not right IMHO. Now on the other hand I have likely 250 loaded for the 300 Wby and another 2-300 bullets on hand........and I don't need to wring out this old girl as we have decades of history and thousands of rounds together......... If someone could point me at another 250-300 bullets I would feel a lot better about taking the Skinny One...

My thinking is, his one shot at a dessert bighorn is not the place to get "first blood" on a rifle... not when there is a good, proven option. JMO.

Prophet River has 150 grs for sale.

Well boys and girls Clay at Prophet River has come through again with 5 boxes of the 150 TTSXs so I will be able to play with my "Skinny One" and become more familiar with it. In reality I should only need 1 cartridge for the hunt........HOWEVER, "best laid plans of mice.........." means I'll be shooting about 500 rounds before I go and taking at least 20 and likely 40 with me..........besides I will likely want one of them super Sonoran mulies I have heard so much about.
