Ontario spring turkey 2016

The weather is supposed to suck, rain and wet snow... it won't stop the birds, just make it more miserable for us... the last opener like that was a few years ago and we ended up stalking our gobblers in howling wind and rain, by belly crawling through a muddy patch of woods to about 50 yards and the calling them in to 20 yards... it was so windy that they couldn't hear us until we got in to 50 yards... we were covered in mud, but the cat n' mouse for 2 hours was fun.

What is everybody's morning setup like? I usually hide in a clump of cedars where I can see around with 2 hen decoys about 25 yards past me and I try to sit between a roosting bird and the decoys.

My wife and will be set up in a small copse of trees in a field. The turkeys roost on 2 sides. We will be using 2 hen decoys infront of us.

Going out the 27th, first time hunting ever. Some great guys taking me, they are not hunting just taking me so i can get one. Hard to find people like that these days, anyways good luck everyone and if you dont get lucky this year ill let you in on a secret (its cheaper to buy a turkey at the store lol)

It us a long strip so we are going to spread out with the adults on the outside and the younger ones in between us. I with have pretty boy with two hen decoys out in front of the kids the ides is to get the kids a shot right of the roost. And if some thing goes wrong the old guys can clean up.lol .best layer plains. Lol. I'm till Mr Murphy shows up lol. We shall see what the morning brings .Dutch
