Pardus Reviews?

Epic fail for my pradus today. Jamed immediately off the hop, took one hour to get the shells out. Then reloaded to try again cycled 5 rounds through no problem. Then reloaded and fired it but wouldn't cycle the next round and the bolt was stuck and remains stuck.

What shells were you using ?. Im hoping to get out tomorrow and beat mine up a little and I would like to try as many different shells as possible.

It will be interesting to see how many people have similar experiences.

Aside from maybe the type of shells, did you take the gun apart first and clean it?

O ya and what model did you get. The internals on the ss I have seem a little more robust than the sl.

well the SS worked great with everything except dominion slugs and my 930 wouldn't function with those either.
I shot 15 dominion buckshot, 20 Winchester target loads, 10 federal target loads,15 federal #4 shot, 5 federal buckshot and 5 Remington slugs. I also shot 5 3" buckshot and it functioned with them perfectly.

my shoulder is definitely reminding me how long it has been since I shot shotgun.

I was at the range with a friend yesterday.
He had Pardus o/u with wood stock and removable chokes.
Paid less than $400 for it.
Hands down, best o/u for a money I have ever seen.

I am sorry, I missed the sale.

I just took delivery of my 20 gauge over/under. Fit and finish is remarkably good ,especially for a gun of this price . The stock and forearm are not a bad piece of wood at all and it has the high gloss finish. There is not a mark, scratch or chip anywhere in the wood or the bluing. When I ordered, it said all that was left was the black receiver. However, I was pleasantly surprised as I received the silver action with the laser engraving. The rib is straight and tight and the front sight centered. Both swivels are installed and there is not a trace of chipping where the rear one screws into the stock. So appearance wise, the gun looks great. How well the finish on things like the trigger guard and forearm latch hold up will be determined with use. As to be expected on a gun of this price, the mechanics are very stiff to operate at this time. That includes the forearm latch, opening the barrels and sliding the safety/barrel selector. But with a little lubrication and use, I imagine things will loosen up. So, if the gun functions for a reasonable length of time, at this point I would call them a heck of a deal for $388.00.
They definitely aren't a high volume trap gun and I think anyone who wants one for that purpose is likely setting themselves up for disappointment.

I noticed in the video by Adriel , reviewing the over under, it looks as though the action is plain silver with Pardus written on the side. The receiver on mine has full coverage laser engraving on the sides and does not say Pardus on the sides. It is only stamped Pardus on the bottom of the receiver. Looking on the Pardus website, they claim the engraving is hand engraving. Of course that could mean many things such as using the hand to turn on the laser engraver, LOL.
Also just noticed that when ordered they specified 28" barrels. Mine has 26" which will actually work out better for my daughter.

So against my better judgement I bought one. Looks nice and feels nice but fit and finish is poor. Took it out and right away the top firing pin was misaligned causing that barrel to misfire. After about 100 rounds (mostly through the bottom barrel) I inspected it and found some of the filler between the barrels cracked out. The gun has been sent to a gunsmith in BC for warranty repair. They were pleasant to deal with I guess we will see how it comes back. Pardus S silver.

As far as fit and finish, I guess I got lucky with mine. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the fit and finish on mine. Not a scratch, nothing. What actually are people referring to when they are claiming poor fit and finish? Is there bluing missing, is there stock finish missing, runs, dust/dirt in the finish, gaps between metal and wood, crooked rib or what. Some examples of what people actually mean would be nice. Wood proud of the action where the stock meets the action is a trait of many over/unders, and not just low end guns. I'm not trying to be a #### here, but just trying to get more accurate opinions so people can form a proper conclusion. But the description "poor fit and finish" all by itself doesn't really describe much. As I said, I got very lucky with mine and just from appearance, I'm quite satisfied. As far as function and reliability, I cannot speak to that as of yet and won't until my daughter actually starts to use it. Maybe then I will be back saying it is junk but I will give the reasons why.

The most obvious signs of poor fit and finish are usually gaps between fitted parts, either wood or metal, machining marks on the metal either on the exterior surfaces ,or interior parts such as the barrel and chamber, uneven bluing or discoloration on the bluing, poor finish on wood, rough action or trigger function, and beads or ribs not properly aligned.

Exactly, and this is what I am referring to. If a particular gun has missing or uneven bluing, machining marks, gaps, whatever the case may be, point the actual problems out. Then people can have a better understanding/picture of what a gun or brand is actually like instead of a broad term "poor fit and finish". That raises more questions than answers. I know in the video in this thread about reviewing the over/under it was stated that his particular gun had numerous imperfections. What are they as they couldn't be seen in the video. One could see the small chip in the forearm. Was that there from factory or from handling at the store. Mine stated right on the box that the firearm was removed from the box to check the serial number against the number on the box. Was the gun with the chipped forearm banged by an employee? It was also stated that the safety/barrel selector was very "sloppy feeling" on said gun. That is exactly the opposite of mine. In fact, out of the box mine is too tight/stiff for my liking. So do we have an obvious hit and miss scenario with these guns. Good/proper details will tell us that. I fully expected to see some obvious finishing issues on the gun I received. I was totally surprised. I also think maybe I received the wrong model by mistake. I say that because of the full coverage engraving it has and the 26" barrels instead of the listed 28" in the ad. Anyone else get a gun with full coverage engraving? Maybe different models are finished to a different level. I'm sure if one was to tear into the internal mechanics, tooling marks etc. would be obvious as there has to be production cost cuts somewhere on a gun in the given price range. Anyone thinking they are going to get a Browning or Beretta quality gun for the price has to be dreaming. Hopefully, more who ordered guns from this sale will give a detailed description of the gun they receive, good or bad. Same goes for actual function/reliability. If there are problems, let's hear about them. If you don't experience any problems, lets hear about that as well. Then we will know if the majority of these guns are junk or fair value for the money. If the gun I received has functioning issues once it starts getting used, you can bet I will be posting the problems, or lack of, that it has.

The misaligned firing pin, and the filler between the barrels cracking out in the post that I copied from the other site are not only fit and finish issues, they actually caused the gun to misfire, which is definitely a reliability issue, and possibly a safety issue.

And that reporting is good in so far as getting a true picture and what possible problems may be. Of course not good for the owner. In relation to that, I was reading on a forum about someone looking for a lower priced over/under. It was commented by a couple of people to look for a Pardus dealer. So does that mean that those people have had good experiences? Don't know so hopefully we get more hands on reports good or bad.

Budgets for guns vary from person to person so decent lower priced guns have a niche to fill. I know there is the used market, but a lot of people starting out have no idea how or where to buy used. Good luck to the new Pardus owners. Post your comments on them once you get a chance to use them.

I thought a budget gun was $1000!
